Q: if you’re honest with yourself, what is an area where you’re lacking balance? . A: if I’m being honest with myself it’s my practice... life gets “busy” and I think we use that as an excuse sometimes. Q: when you get “twisted” off the path of your goals and dreams, how do you realign yourself? . A: for me, I try and not be so rigid in goals. Rather than setting a specific goal, maybe I make it more broad. I think if we narrow goals and dreams down to very specifics we can set ourselves up to create these expectations. I’ve never been a fan of expectations because I think they can lead to a lot of negative emotions. So when we keep our goals and dreams more broad, and able to change/grow/adapt depending on the flow of life, it is more realistic for us to attain those. So long answer short, by not being so rigid in setting goals and dreams 💛 . Today is day 7 of #alowinterwarriors and I chose to do a mermaid Twisted crescent b variation! . By shifting my perspective and not looking at it as something to be feared but rather, something that was empowering, it became a little less daunting! . What is something you’re dreaming about and reaching for this year? . You know, for once I don’t really have a “goal” or something I’m reaching for this year! I completed my bachelors at the end of last year and that was the big thing I had been reaching for! I guess if I had to pick, just starting a job where I can continue to develop my career. Good morning friends!!! . Today is Day 1 of #AloWinterWarriors! . Pose -> Virabhadrasana 1 (Warrior 1) . Question of the day: What is something you’ve done that’s taken courage? Wow, what a powerful question. Of recent, I would have to say taking a yoga teacher training and becoming a yoga teacher. It took courage for me because I am naturally a shy/more quiet person. Don’t like speaking in front of others. Being outgoing is just something’s that’s always been a little more difficult for me. So I found that courage and stepped outside of my comfort zone, took that training, and then went on to teach classes. . Yoga taught me a strength like no other. Both mentally and physically. I used to be quick to react on my emotions, sometimes it still happens because I’m just a human 🤪, but mostly I’m able to take a step back and evaluate before reacting. And physically.... I never thought I’d be able to find so much strength in my body! Yoga has forever changed my life 💛💛💛💛💛 What about you, how has yoga changed your life??? . . . . . . . . #aloyoga
Spent the morning teaching a 6 am yoga class and left with that teaching high. Followed my an oat milk latte, face mask and journaling with fur-baby snuggles 😭😍 such a good start to my day! And all happened before 9!! Now to just keep this productive train going! In case no one told you today: You are F*cking amazing, and go conquer your day!!
I’ve slowly learned to let my edges be soft. It wasn’t easy since I lived a lot of my life guarded, and emotionally ridged. I truly believed that if you let others see your vulnerability it was a sign of weakness. I wouldn’t cry during movies. Wouldn’t dare see me crying in front of other people. Using the four letter “L” word more openly was a rarity. But then I learned it was the exact opposite! I wasn’t strong for controlling my emotions, I was weak because I was Hiding behind them. I still have so much more growing to do, but these new soft edges are here to stay.
I knew that if I allowed fear to overtake me, my journey was doomed. Fear, to a great extent, is born of a story we tell ourselves, and so I chose to tell myself a different story from the one women are told. I decided I was safe. I was strong. I was brave.
