19 was the first time I ever tried yoga. I had remembered hearing about yoga as a teen and straight out of high school and thought of how yoga was So not for me. I thought I had to be a “hippie” so to speak and that I didn’t fit the “mold” to be a yogi. But then, one of my friends convinced me to take one yoga class with her. One. That’s all it took. And I was hooked. Something in me snapped and made me realize yoga Was for me! Yoga IS for everyone. So since the age of 19 I’ve been practicing yoga, and can’t believe how fast almost 7 years has gone by! How much I’ve grown because of yoga! . I’m so so honored to be a part of the @aloyoga family who just launched Alo Gives, a nonprofit that is dedicated to bringing yoga & mindfulness to Kids and underserved communities by providing a free curriculum of 5-minute videos to do in the classroom or at home helping to introduce mental & physical skills that are a part of social & emotional learning. Hi friends 👋🏻 It’s been almost 2 weeks exactly since I’ve been off Ig! I’ve been dealing with some not so fun Anxiety.... It’s a bitch and preys on you when you’re most vulnerable. This past week I’ve been struggling with my anxiety. I have been fortunate enough to not have had to experience it much in about 7 years. But out of nowhere last Sunday while laying in bed, it hit me all at once. That feeling of impending doom that comes out of nowhere. I’ve been journaling a Lot. Deep Breathing a Lot. And just allowing myself some time and space to overcome it. Each day it’s been getting a little better. 💛 If you have anxiety, you’re not alone!!! Keep reminding yourself to breathe deep and “this too shall pass”💛 .

Hey friends!!!!! I’ve Slowly working my way back to this space. I haven’t had as much time to go out and take all the beautiful yoga photos, so it’s been a bit deterring to post. I think there is this unspoken pressure to have the best quality photos posted. I remember wayyy back (if you scroll to the beginning of this account) I just used photos I took on my phone! But somewhere along the line the pressure to stay relevant with top notch photos became more of a chore than something I’d do for fun. So taking a step back and looking at things from a fresh perspective and seeing what matters is what I needed. I love sharing with you all but damn, sometimes it’s a lot of work lol. Hey insta-fam! I decided to take 5 days off Instagram to reset. And was it needed! I found myself at a point where I was actively avoiding opening this little app, so that’s when I realized I just needed to take a step back until I no longer felt that sense of aversion. Ahhhh today was a Monday for sure 🤪 Sorry for such a late post for #weaksideasanas friends but today’s pose was 8 angle pose! This is the arm balance that made me fall in love with arm balances and kept me coming back for More! . Do you have a pose like that for you?? Anywho, this is my left side and is much more difficult for me than my other side! It’s hard to tell in the photo, but while doing the pose, I felt so shaky and couldn’t hold for nearly as long as the other side. Sometimes the “weak side” may be more of an internal reflection or more something that you Feel as opposed to what you see! And that’s so important to be in tune to! . Welcome do Day 10 of #weaksideasanas 💛 For today’s pose you could choose either side crow or flying crow. Since flying crow is more difficult and “uneven” for me I chose this pose. You can tell the first photo is my weak side as I don’t have as much height and I look like a plane getting ready to crash😂 (again, Swipe left for strong side) but, I love that I practiced this pose because I usually don’t! . .... flying pigeon pose, ohhhh flying pigeon pose lol. This is not one of my most favorite arm balances. This is my right side, which is quite a bit weaker than my left side (Swipe left for strong side photo). In this pose you can see a definite difference between my two sides. This armbalance requires that your hips, wrists, and hamstrings be warmed up, so be sure to warm up before jumping into this pose. As always, LISTEN to your body!! Can’t get your foot off the ground yet? That’s OKAY!! Because at the end of the day, it’s just a yoga pose and it’s not going to make or break us 💛 I’ve been loving reading all your posts of self awareness and all the grace you guys are giving yourselves for your weaksides 💛. I recently made the decision to step back from teaching yoga for a while and just focus on Me and work though some things. I’ve admittedly neglected my own practice of late, more like the last 3 moths, and am looking forward to holding space for just myself for a while. That may sound selfish, but I think we all need to be a little selfish here and there in life. But really, I need to nourish my body and heart and fill my own proverbial glass, so that I can then fill others. As the saying goes: You can’t pour from an empty cup.

I’ve been sitting here going through all of your #weaksideasanas photos and am so inspire by all of you playing along! You guys are doing so so amazing 💛😭 . Posting early for tomorrow’s pose which is Sugarcane! . My left side is my weakside because my hip flexor and hamstring is a bit tighter on this side. Again, most of us have these difference between our right and left sides and that’s Okay! Just remember what we practice on one side, we should be practicing on the other☺️ .
