Day 7️⃣ and the last day of #InvertedWork2 🤸🏾‍♀️ Today is #yogischoice 🤗 show us your fave drill or inversion! Today I chose a headstand pic from Italy because it’s that time of the month! Did you know it’s not recommended to practice inversions on your period? At first I thought it was a sexist rule someone made up, until I learned why. In asana practice, you can engage bandhas (or locks) within the body to aid your practice. In practicing inversions, you can engage the mula bandha (or root lock). If engaged too much, you can actually stop your flow 🤯 Not that it’s likely to happen if you practice an inversion, just that it CAN happen.. the more you know! A more beginner way to practice handstand is using a wall, bed, couch, or @feetup trainer to get your hips over your head with support! A good way to check the proper distance to be from the wall is to sit with your legs straight and your feet touching the wall. Where your hips are, that’s where your hands should be! The way I see it is that we attract situations into our life to show us the ways that we are denying ourselves. When we let go of our own needs to focus on others, we attract events that highlight this. And yet, so many of us continue on this path of suffering, thinking that if we can do _____ for another person, that need will be met for ourselves. When really, it works the other way. When we can meet our own needs, we are better equipped to help others reach their own needs (without feeling the need to do it for them). What do you think?
