IS MY GOAL ATTAINABLE? You MUST make your goals attainable for who you are CURRENTLY (not for your Ideal Self). Why?! Because when you set goals that you can’t complete, week after week - eventually… you just give up! The mentality easily goes to: If I can’t do some of it - Why do it at all? Knowing that this is the natural way of thinking, it’s easy to work around this by building goals you can be sure you will succeed at. This is how you build slow momentum to keep moving towards your end goal. The easiest way to know if a goal is attainable or not is this: If you don’t think you can keep up this goal for the next month… the goal is too big of a leap for right now! Now, adjust your goal so that you can confidently be doing it one month from now. Ask yourself: Is my goal really attainable for me and my lifestyle? Can I complete my goal this week/next week? IS MY GOAL MEASURABLE? To set yourself up for success, you need to make your goal measurable and make it harder to cheat! Think about it. If you set a goal saying that “I will go to the gym and do cardio a few times a week”. You could go to the gym and work out for one minute twice a week and say that you reached your goal! I recommend to use the timeframe of what you can do in the next week 📅 Make a decision to track your goals by minutes (e.g. 150 minutes every week) or by the amount of times and minutes (e.g. 3 times a week for 50 minutes). The option you will choose here will depend on you and your schedule If you have a fixed schedule (e.g. you work a 9-5 job), then you may want to schedule your goal specifically into your week. If you have more flexibility in your workweek, then it may be easier for you to schedule in time for your goal as you go. The latter option may also be better for someone who doesn’t like to follow a set schedule… it all depends on who you are and what the next 7 days looks like for you After tweaking your goal to make it measurable, ask yourself: Can I measure my goal? WHO DO I WANT TO BE? After getting clear about who your Current Self is (see two posts back for details), the next step is to get VERY SPECIFIC about who you aspire to be! This is the visualized Ideal Self. Everybody aspires to be someone who they are not currently. If you didn’t aspire to grow, then you probably would have stopped reading this post already Get out a pen & paper. Ask yourself: Who do I want to be?
What do I want to value? If you have trouble visualizing an Ideal Self, try to keep in mind someone else that you really admire. What qualities do they hold that you like? Remember that bridging the gap between your Current Self and Ideal Self takes many steps. This change is often quite uncomfortable. If you’re ready to elevate your Current Self, you MUST get comfortable with feelings of discomfort (isn’t that a hard one to swallow 😨). Feeling of discomfort will always be present in making changes; it’s time to embrace it so you can elevate to who you desire to be I use S.M.A.R.T.E.Y. 📣 Awareness Yoga Challenge! 💙 Myth: Human trafficking only occurs in illegal underground industries. 💙 Reality: Trafficking can occur in legal and legitimate business settings as well as underground markets. Human trafficking has been reported in business markets such as restaurants, hotels, and manufacturing plants, as well as underground markets such as commercial sex in residential brothels and street based commercial sex. In the Caribbean, trafficking humans for slavery and labour is/was a common practice to meet labour demands. It all began with bringing Irish over to work on plantations, to Africans used as slaves. After slavery was abolished, Indians were brought over to the Caribbean as labourers. They were/are treated terribly. As a Canadian, it’s hard to imagine the harsh labour practices elsewhere in the world. We are privileged and need to acknowledge our privilege in how lucky we are to have such incredible working conditions/rights in labour practices ‼️ Thank you to everyone who joined us in spreading this message and cause. Victims of human trafficking often do not immediately seek help or self-identify as victims of a crime due to a variety of factors, including lack of trust, self-blame, or specific instructions by the traffickers regarding how to behave when talking to law enforcement or social services. Victims may be afraid to come forward and get help; they may be forced or coerced through threats or violence; they may fear retribution from traffickers, including danger to their families; and they may not be in possession of or have control of their identification documents. It is important to avoid making a snap judgment about who is or who is not a trafficking victim based on first encounters. Trust often takes time to develop. Continued trust-building and patient interviewing is often required to get to the whole story and uncover the full experience of what a victim has gone through. In fact, the crime of human trafficking does not require any movement whatsoever. Survivors can be recruited and trafficked in their own home towns, even their own homes. Many survivors have been trafficked by romantic partners, including spouses, and by family members, including parents. Trafficking victims can come from a range of income levels, and many may come from families with higher socioeconomic status. DAY 3 OBSERVE “You must be stubborn about your goals and flexible about your process” // The Motto Of My Practice Today Yesterday, I feel like I set off an old injury in my practice. So today, I had a choice to make: to rest for a day or to keep up my goal and get on my mat for every day of January I really wanted to get on my mat because my belief is that breath is medicine & yoga is healing in that way. I knew I couldn’t do a regular practice so I made the choice to modify the entire practice to fit my own needs When setting a goal, you must think about who your Current Self is.
