Basically we process things subconsciously in a number of different lobes of the brain & then the conscious mind spits it out & takes credit like a poor CEO. According to the majority of neuroscientists, the subconscious generates all new thoughts, decisions, & everything ever imagined. The conscious is at the mercy of the subconscious, in order to direct our senses & when necessary, respond to them. 2️⃣The reason the #heart gives so much feedback to the brain is due to how our hormones & neurotransmitters are set up. The reason it’s so important is because the quality of the emotional signal our hearts sends to our brains determines what kind of chemicals our brains release into our bodies. Cardiovascular afferent neurons have numerous connections to such brain centers as the thalamus, hypothalamus, & amygdala. This play a direct role in determining our perceptions, thought processes, & emotional experiences. . 3️⃣90% is our serotonin is made in our gut. The vague nerve in the gut sends 400x more signals to the brain than the #brain sends to the gut. Sensory neurons contained in GALT lining the walls of our stomach send signals to our brain in as little as 10 microseconds! The power of meditation. The hardest piece of the yoga tree. The asanas are easy compared to the power of the mind. It can talk you out or in. Today on Monday, Jan 7, our co-founder @candicedee got back from a long flight from her hometown Singapore and had to hit the ground running. There’s no stopping her.. except maybe.. jet lag after the longest direct flight currently standing in the world. Here’s her story of how she got over it: . “I forced myself to get out of bed for the 6:30am #bikramyoga class (on Monday too!) cos’ I know that that particular yoga kicks the jet lag right out of me #triedandtested but then after class I felt woozy, loopy, in a daze, lost, gliding and floating but not in the good way, just.. “off” and it hit me that the jet lag was really setting in but I had so much to do on my first day back at work!! So I had a super satisfying, yummy and nutritious breakfast and sat down for a moment, geared with my Breathing techniques and Scientific Meditation. . . I AM STRONG I AM POWERFUL I AM YOUTH I AM HAPPY . . There is a light at the top of my head. . . I have never seen it work so well in my life. Within exactly 9 mins that horrible feeling I had that consumed me and did not allow me to continue my day, stopped me from being productive and efficient, went away in 9 mins with these tools. After several Full Circle programs and reminders to do it as often as I can, you would think it would be natural. But this my dear friends, is the hardest piece. Meditating. Welcome to the club.” . . Sometimes it’s the guidance of how to go about this new world of meditation that will take away the daunting feeling to start or give you the push and new found enthusiasm to start your meditation practice. #justbe

WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF OUR FULL CIRCLE ALUM @alfalfanewyork for this amazing piece! Read till the end! ・・・ ONE DAY, I decided to make simple icons of all of New York landmarks. The idea was to go back to my childhood, to the time when I’d just draw for the act of drawing. I remember at the age of 4 or 5 I’d just draw from memory. My drawings were very simple, almost like naive art, I used pencil and my school composition book. The blank space left at the end of my assignments became my canvas. I’d fill them with simple drawings of things I saw in my farm life: trees, cactuses, houses, people, birds, dogs, cows, cats, pigs, chickens, and, of course, the local landmarks (the one-room rural school and the general store). I’d not rest until the entire page was completely filled up. The final composition resembled a Where-is-Waldo jumble of my childhood world. * * Looking at the Iconic New York Poster now, I realized how similar the process has been. It all started by drawing for the act of drawing - no set goal in sight. It’s incredible to think that this poster hangs in many walls, in many countries around the world. I’m humbled and hopeful. * * When we become adults, most of us let go of the child we once were, we forget the simple things that makes us happy. * * Today, I challenge you to think about the things that made you happiest as a child. Maybe climbing a tree, maybe hugging someone, maybe singing or dancing, maybe skipping rope, maybe hiking in the woods, or maybe even drawing or painting. Quieting the mind is a myth. Yup, we are boldly putting it out there. Why do you ask? Yes, meditation is about being silent. But the mind is always running. Always thinking. The brain is always working. That is its function. We want to show you that sitting down in silence, in lotus pose with meditation music is just 1/10 of the meditation puzzle. In order to get there you have to first remove stale air and shift the state energy around. Consider this! Dynamic meditation, breathing exercises, allows you to move that stale energy and finally come to sitting and feel the dust settle, like stirring a cup of muddy water, letting the residue settle and feeling what the moment brings about. Feeling everything. EVERYTHING! Good and bad, happy angry or sad. Whatever comes about. It is all OK! You are not suppoe to feel relaxed and calm at every meditation. Meditation brings up things, sometimes we get clarity, sometimes we know what is standing in our way - and sometimes it makes us feel a certain way that thorws us off our meditation - but it is all OK. It is all part of the journey and process towards being mroe in control and finding that peace within yourself. If you are not at peace, you will never be happy.
