In that moment, I realized HOW LONG it had been since someone had reached out + physically touched me. It felt so fucking good. . 👥Of course, the researcher in me hadddd to find the science behind it. 🤓 Here it goes 👇🏽👇🏽. . 👥Sustained eye contact + human touch encourages feelings of love, trust + bonding by releasing oxytocin in our brain. Oxytocin plays a huge role in social bonding + sexual reproduction. It extends to generate feelings of compassion during human interactions. . 👥Human touch also notoriously reduces social anxiety + stress by increasing levels of dopamine + serotonin — two neurotransmitters which help to regulate our mood. . 👥Even more, it is known to improve the function of our immune system, as well as reduce diseases associated with the heart + blood. . 👥If you don’t currently have another human you like to snuggle with, COME TO YOGA! Believe it or not, there are still people out there who think the numbers in their banks accounts and bar graphs matter more than our planet. We believe that yoga helps us to slow down and start to appreciate that we are nature. Our bodies are literally the earth. Our breath is literally the air. This water no less a part of us than our blood. Learning to love ourselves at our most elemental level might be a key piece of the puzzle that moves our species forward into a new green era.

One of my favourite workshops to lead is my Parasympathetic Flow.⁣ ⁣ People keep telling me to change the name, but I can't do it. We need to hear the word parasympathetic and become more familiar with its meaning.⁣ ⁣ It is our embodied relaxation response and a crucial component of being a healthy, integrated, human being. We get amped up, then we calm down. Stoked then chilled. Too much amp/stoke and the burnout can set it.⁣ ⁣ The world does not want you to calm/chill. Calm/chill don't pay no bills. So you need to make a practice of it. Relaxation is too important to be left to chance. You have to make it yourself.⁣ ⁣ Need help making it? Hello, My name is Chris and I along with my beautiful partner Kristal are Two Roots. We come from different yoga backgrounds, and follow a different paths, but together have a shared grounding. Two Roots comes from the idea that as our ideas grow in unique paths, we grow in unison to form something larger than either could do ourselves. . My yoga practice started many years ago, and took many detours (and road blocks) along the way. A few years ago, I found a new, deeper appreciation for my practice. I focused on the physical benefits of the breath work, and found instead the profound mental and spiritual pleasures that Pranayama brought me. I also discovered the feelings of the poses themselves, and knew that I’d delved into deeper yoga practice. . When I finally decided to take a teacher training, I knew that a teacher with a philosophical approach to Yoga would best suit my interests, but also recognized that my anatomic understanding of the body was limited, and a teacher that could allow me to understand the body would be useful.  I couldn’t be happier with my decision to stay in Regina to take my training with Sarah and Colin, whose combined knowledge in both my interests and my weaknesses made for an ideal learning environment for me. . As a teacher, I hope to help you recognize your energy bodies, and gain deeper understanding of your yoga practice. .
