First time doing yoga in a looong while and let’s just say my body is requesting that I do it more often. Especially recovering from a 10k + snowboarding. It’s also requesting a chiropractor appointment, and possibly a massage. 😅 • I find it hard to give myself recovery time because some little voice in my head tells me I’m being lazy but recovery is a very important part of training and I need to take it more seriously. And in the spirit of that, I’m going to be scheduling yoga into my weekly training. Listen to your body, guys. Yogi squat... Inverted. Moving right along to the half way mark. Make sure you keep playing with good warm ups, drills and bail outs. Daily they will increase your consistency in inverting. #HANDSTANDNF day 5 and we are working on a hop from #malasana to handstand. I work these slow and with as much breath control as I can. My goal is to get right into a malasana or tuck shape when I catch air. This helps me focus on core activation, and takes the flail put of my legs and arch away from low back (leading me to feel more controlled and less likely to topple over.) I teach these traveling from the back to the front of the mat in classes. Inhale in malasana, exhale to plant hands and constrict breath on the way up. I inhale at the top. (Its what works for me.) Who wouldn’t love a move called the sloth 🐾 Sadly it requires much more strength than it looks. Got some serious #mondaymotivation this morning and jumped out of bed (for once) for a lussshhh Hot Yoga session before brekky 💦💦💦 it’s in a pretty purple pod at 37 degrees and it got sweaty! Sadly I forgot my beaut @lululemonuk yoga towel, and had to use my crazy bright Mickey Mouse Castaway Cay towel I found in the back of my car 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️(you’d have loved it @emilyrosefitness_ !) . I was buzzzinnn cos for the first time I was able to easily do my #yogisquat (no fallin on my ass!) YAY . Then it was POLE this evening, we just did some spins and started on forearm climbing 💪🏻💪🏻

Malasana with Gomukhasana arms (Garland or Yogi Squat with Cow Face Arms) 🐮 • Little bit of a hybrid asana today because I think we can sometimes be too obsessive about getting ‘perfect’ alignment in an asana more often than we’re sometimes willing to explore modifications and other variations ✨ • When you put your asana practice into a pigeon hole, it can restrict the bodies many capabilities. Therefore involving more variations can encourage the body to open in a different way and a different kind of depth can be found 🕉 • Like here for example, I’m allowing my chest, shoulders and triceps to find more room to open than the traditional form of this postures where my hands would be at heart centre in namaste 🙏🏽 • Exploration also takes you out of your comfort zone and frees your mind and body of restriction. A pose should very rarely feel easy and if it does then it’s time to mix it up! 🌈

Did some wide legged squats to warm and loosen up the hips a little before descending with gratitude into the Garland Pose aka #yogisquat. One of my favorite go-to poses to unwind and loosen up the lower back after a long day of sitting. . . . Added some twists (albeit a little stiffly done) in the second video to try and open up the shoulders as well. . . . Here’s the sequence that has been challenging me lately, along with almost losing it on my way back out of headstand. I can’t wait to look back on working this sequence to see my progress. Alternatively, when we close the eyes and allow ourselves to feel out a situation we may truly see.  This is why meditation is such a powerful tool.  Without the distraction of the eyes, and the imaginations of the brain, we may actual piece together a real story. . This energy centre grounds us, is the source of our survival instincts, makes us feel stable and fearless. When it’s out of balance you might feel insecure, disorganized, confused or have low energy.
