There’s always so much to do, people to see and places to visit. Expectations can run high and it can be a wonderful yet anxiety fuelled time. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ This photo was taken whilst on a winter morning dog walk this week. So peaceful and calm. Finding these moments and connecting fully with the breath are essential. What can you do if you start to feel stressed?⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Take a moment to breathe.🙏 Connect with a lovely calming, nourishing and grounding breath.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ✨Three Part Breath -Dirgha Pranayama✨⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ This can easily be practised standing or lying down but it’s best sitting. Root down through your sitting bones, lift the spine and crown of your head and soften your face and shoulders. ⁣⁣⁣ 🧘‍♀️⁣⁣⁣ Beginners version ( ideal for kids too)⁣⁣⁣ ✨Place your hands on your abdomen and inhale/exhale for five deep breaths. Feel the abdomen expanding and filling with the breath and then the navel drawing back to your spine as you exhale.⁣⁣⁣ ✨Place your hands on your ribcage and inhale/exhale for five deep breaths. Feel the expansion in your ribcage and perhaps your hands moving apart as you inhale. Your hands draw together on the exhale. ⁣⁣⁣ ✨Place your hands on your chest and inhale/exhale for five deep breaths. Feel the chest move out as you inhale and withdraw in as you exhale.⁣⁣⁣ It’s a lovely accessible way to really draw your awareness to your breath.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Another version⁣⁣⁣ ✨Divide your inhalation’s into three parts⁣⁣⁣ . Inhale a third of your breath into your abdomen. Pause⁣⁣⁣ . Inhale a third of your breath into your ribcage. Pause⁣⁣⁣ . Inhale the remaining third into your chest.⁣⁣⁣ Feel the breath filling up the body. ⁣⁣⁣ Followed by a lovely long exhalation from the chest down to the abdomen💫⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ✨Simple breathing techniques like these calm the mind and body, increase oxygen supply to the blood and can help to reduce muscular tension✨⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ This is lovely to do before the asanas but can easily be practised anytime 🙏 Happy weekend 💫

LEARNING TO CHINSTAND ⬇️ Firstly a chinstand is not balancing on your chin it’s your arms that are doing the work here. Your arms are holding your body weight, your chin is used as the stabiliser I like to say. So what if your scared to try it? Use blocks gain your confidence and have a feel using a wall to kick up from also. Having your blocks for support is how you learn and get the feel of it. Make sure your blocks are aligned properly underneath your shoulders and have your hands just before them. I honestly was using blocks for months till I was really confident and had more strength. I’m very lucky I managed to do this pose in a short space of time, but sometimes it can take a year or two to really build up confidence and gain strength. Your body knows what’s right so go with it. Don’t hold back if your scared and really want to try it. Just practice safely and you’ll be fine ... 🙃 P.S I really hope this helps some people if you need anymore tips etc .. don’t hesitate to dm me ... x
