Dear oh dear, I have a LONG way to go with my #backdrop 😑🙈 #urdhadhanurasana this absolutely terrifies me!!!! I love #backbending but this is a different league! I’ve done it once with the help of the partner, but now I have no partner, I have very recently starting walking walls. I have a LONNNNGGG way to go until I might feel comfortable in this. I can see where I’m making mistakes, not pressing forward into the hips is one of them! This #yogavideo shows a big #workingprogress . I think it’s good to be honest in your practice, and being a teacher it’s also good to show that everyone still is working on something and is no where near perfect in their practice. Every time you get on the mat you still need to work hard, getting your mind in check so you can make progress. From this week I dropped Primary series from my practice ... trusting & surrendering to my teacher, it wasn’t easy, I’m telling you ...I had to ( and still have to ! ) let go of my attachment to Primary Series. 😱 I feel like I have lost my (practice) identity , a strong relationship & bond that built my practice, that grounded me & saved me in my hard times. And from years of daily practicing it - I have to let it go... & I can feel the intensity of the Intermediate in its full glory now. Not only I feel completely lost without my forward bending, Marichyasnas & Navasana, I feel not warm enough, not ready enough. I guess it is something I will get used to. Letting go of our comfort zones on the mat, trusting and surrendering to the practice, lineage & knowledge, makes us more prone to leave the ‘safety’ of our lives and comfort zones off the mat & dive into the big unknown universe of Life. 💫Trusting that all will work out fine.. no matter how stiff, not warm enough, not ready enough we feel. It's ok to feel down sometimes. We try to find the positives in every situation, but every once in awhile our energy runs low and it's hard to fight the downs. On those days, have the courage to fully embrace these emotions, know that they are temporary, and use them to identify areas of improvement. Do NOT start to compare your situations to others. Some have it better and some have it worse. That should never impact your situation because only you are going through this moment and only you know what it's like. Today I feel pathetic for feeling down, but I am. I'm stuck in this hotel for a couple days because of the winter storm and the whole point of this business trip was to bond with my team in North Carolina (fail). I also got zero sleep last night because I have anxiety sleeping in a hotel room alone. I know it seems like a pitty party to some and I can I'll be over it in a bit, but just thought to share that your feelings matter, no matter the situation. I'm proud of everyone that is giving themselves the permission to feel and taking the time to identify where these emotions are stemming from instead of just numbing them.

After 5 long months of the highest highs and lowest lows, I have finally been cleared by my doctor to resume my “normal” activity! I completely missed summer (my favorite time of year) by being on home & hospital bed rest - but it was worth it. I’ve received a great love & blessing through all this. I’ll never truly be “myself” again...I’m getting to know & love this “new-self”. I am still in a weird haze of sleep deprivation, but I started practicing yoga again and it humbled me!!! I could not push myself up off the mat as smoothly as I once could ...I could not sit still...My pigeon looks more like a duck 🦆...but again, all worth it. That’s what a practice is for, right? I’m so glad to be back and to exercise my body and mind again. I haven’t felt inspired to post in few days. This week has been crazy. Instead of a weekend I have three 14 hour days in a row. I usually work or have so many trainings on weekends that I go 15-20 days straight without a day off. It is exhausting. But it’s a necessary hustle, because when you’re training for your dream life and trying to make rent teaching yoga, days off aren’t usually an option. Then I feel guilty about complaining. Because my life is SO GOOD. I’m doing what I love to do for a living. How could I complain? Chasing happiness. Sure, overworking and being tired is hard- but so worth it if you LOVE what you’re doing. What are you working for? Really though, even if you love your job, it’s important to spend time not doing it. Another day off the mat 😔 I’ve been sick since Sunday, but finally went to the doctor on Wednesday. I had a fever of 102 when I got there - turns out I don’t have a cold, I have an ear and throat infection 😅 since then I’ve been on a double dose of amoxicillin, which has meant skull splitting headaches, 24/7 nausea, and - obviously - no yoga. On the bright side - my mum’s way of cheering me up was completely spoiling me with new yoga gear! My skin has always sucked no matter what i use so hopefully @beautycounter is the magic trick.
