BRAHMACHARYA 🙈 This yama can be loosely translated to many different things in English. The way I see this yama, is that of ‘wise use of energy’ I was taught in my YTT that in the extremes of brahmacharya practice, this means celibacy. Meaning to practice celibacy in every stage of life, unless it becomes a wise use of energy. That being, unless sex is used for its purpose of procreation Obviously, this is an extreme way to view this yama. To me, I see it as simply using your energy wisely. If you know something tires you, choose to use your energy wisely instead of falling into draining patterns You know coffee makes you tired in the crash? Don’t drink coffee. That persons that pisses you off and takes too much from you? Cut off their supply. Staying up til 2am when you have work in the morning? You get the point here: Choose to use your energy wisely Everyday in life we make choices. We are not “just the way we are”. We make a choice to be exactly who we are. For tomorrow, try to become aware of everything you do. What is giving you life? What is draining you?
