It also has a very calming and restorative effect on the sympathetic nervous system, so it’s my favorite pose before heading into savasana 🙏🏽 There are various ways to position the arms, like pressing palms flat into the floor, and also clasping hands. I’m sure there are even more variations, so this is just one example of how to support the pose. Let’s talk diet and health. I’ve always had a sensible relationship with food, once I get into a “new habit” I tend to really commit and really stick to it. I’m all about eating healthy, but for my own sake and for how I’m I know balance must be my priority and a good “unhealthy” guilt free option every once in a while is an exercise I need to keep practicing. So my point is healthy food is life, but so is balance, so try to stay healthy while you keep enjoying those little things that are part of life with no judgment ❤️ #foodeducation #healthylifestyle

Move slow & if anything feels TOO intense, no worries! Just don’t go as deep! . 💁🏼‍♀️Save this video for next time you need a great stretch! . 🐻WARRIOR 2: Stand wide & sink deep into the front knee. Pull the knee out toward the baby toe side of the foot. This opens the hips! . 🌸SIDE LUNGE: The key here is to keep that knee open out to the side. Put a tiny bend in the straight leg to avoid locking the knee. Press the heel down if you are able to. Mine doesn’t like to go down... yet😅 . 🌞HAPPY BABY & RECLINED COBBLER: Perfect way to gently get into the hips. I encourage you to find some movement here. Rocking side to side, bending one leg & straighten the other, etc. Spend as much time here as you would like! . 🦎LIZARD POSE: This one goes deep! Find the version that feels best for you. There will be some discomfort here, but that’s normal as long as it is not a sharp pain. Breathe here! . ✨TIP✨ Hips are a tight space for most people. These poses may feel uncomfortable when you first start practicing but that is okay! Experience this discomfort. Embrace it. Breathe into it. Allow the body to soften & you’ll see that the more time you spend here the better it becomes. . In the meantime however here is an amazing handstand drill that I found over on @beachyogagirl page! It is such a fantastic way to find your handstand line! I highly recommend!!! DAY 3 🤗 BUTI YOGA CHALLENGE 🧘🏾‍♀️ . . - I am a middle child. 😩😒🤷🏾‍♀️ There was so much trauma going on all around me but I was the “good kid” and no one ever worried about me. To keep me busy I was put in dance classes, played musical instruments, and encouraged to be in extra curricular activities and youth groups. Even though I kept an active life and a smile on my face I was hurting inside. I built anxiety, fear, and pain in my body and it created insomnia and depression. I still kept silent though and wrote in diaries and journals. Those were my life lines. Writing my stories and poetry is a tool that heals me and gives me peace. Even if it’s for a moment, a couple of hours, or a few days. Before I found therapy those journals were my therapy. They were the closest thing I could confide in. They were the only things that helped me through the traumas and dramas. After finding therapy I found ways to really clear some of anxiety, pain, depression, fear and insomnia. I found better way to have an outlet even though I still find journaling and writing a safety net, a way to release, a way to name what I am feeling and have the ability to change my story. Trust me I’m still surrounded by trauma and drama and still unpacking why my life repeats patterns. I still have trouble talking about my problems and asking for help when I need it. Which stems from my silence as a child. Salads are not just for summer. ⭐️✨ During a restful day, I found myself feeling emotional about the world, and life in general. Although the world may be in a better state than it has been historically, I couldn’t help but reflect on the issues that have gotten us to where we are today. As I completed mundane tasks like grocery shopping and my drive home, I was filled with deep sorrow about climate change, socioeconomic inequity, and racism. My mind has been running through various lectures, talks, articles, courses,and podcasts I’ve been delving in to. The truth is, I will not turn my back to the mess the world is in, but there is space for both grief and joy. That is what life is. Life will ebb and flow and there will be pain and loss-direct and indirect, and while we should not turn our backs on issues, we need to hold space for joy as well. 3rd Eye 👁👁👁 Opening the third eye means practicing using your sixth sense. The trick is learning how to accept it is there and then interpret what you are sensing over time. The bigger problem is all too many people force the process and then get overwhelmed by stories, yes stories! More interestingly, the third eye is the only sense that shows us stories. We are human, to be human is to live with our stories, we do have senses to navigate those stories.
