How to chair pose with @omkarlie . . . Most yogis have a love/hate relationship with Utkatasana (chair pose). I used to have so many small, unacknowledged misalignments which made chair poses very uncomfortable and hard. And, I see sooooo many students struggle similarly with this pose. Even though this pose is so common in nearly every class, we rarely spend time refining it. . . Chair has become a favorite since since I finally learned the incredible power of untucking the tailbone, respecting the lumbar curve, and lifting the core *with core strength* rather than by scooping the pelvis under. . . Those of you who know me, know that I used to have significant hamstring attachment issues and really bad low back problems, to the extent that standing or walking for more than 30 mins was painful. . Since I learned to vertically stack my spine, support my lumbar better, untuck my tail, and properly lengthen the belly of my hamstring, I am happy to report that ALL these issues vanished. . . Now I can stand and walk for hours upon hours upon hours with not a hint of discomfort, I no longer have hamstring issues, and my nervous system is more calm. My guiding principle in yoga poses is to deeply listen to my body and honor the types of alignment that support healthy movement. . Do you find it easy to forgive yourself? • For me, that’s one of the hardest things. First because whenever I think I did something wrong, usually us nit that bad and I just overthink it (I’m working on that 🤪). And then, even if I really did a bad thing, I find it super hard to forgive myself. • I think it’s really important to work on our self-criticism, because it might hard to difference between constructive criticism and destructive criticism. It is important to notice it when we can do better so we can grow and learn. But there’s no point when it feels like a nightmare and you just overthink about it without looking for a solution. • We’re all make mistakes. It’s perfectly ok🤗 • • Have a nice day! ᵂᴱᴿᴮᵁᴺᴳ Seven month pregnant today!! 💁🏼‍♀️And I got the flu. 🤧🤪 And pregnancy is not as easy as this picture that the hubs took yesterday might lead you to believe. As I enter my third trimester I realize almost all of my energy goes to baby. And that’s good, I want him to be taken care of. I nap during the day. (This NEVER happened before pregnancy) I move slow. And I mean 🐢. The exhaustion is real. So. Often times during yoga practice, we forget that our breathe is the most important part. ⁣ ⁣ I often forget my breath.⁣ ⁣ Our breath is what links us pose to pose. It anchors us into the present. It brings us energy, healing oxygen, and vitality. ⁣🦋 ⁣ Your breath carries you through life. How often are you realizing you’re breathing? Probably not often. It’s automatic. We know the next one will come without even trying. ⁣ ⁣ During yoga, when we are actually paying attention to this life force, we are connecting to a part of ourselves that is usually forgotten. ⁣⭐️ If all you do is get on your mat and really Breathe for an hour, it doesn’t matter what postures you do. The breath, the connection, the YOGA is there. ⁣ ⁣ Happy Sunday all!❤️❤️❤️
