La escoliosis es una curvatura anormal de la columna vertebral cuyos síntomas más comunes son dolor lumbar, dificultades al respirar y rigidez, las curvas suelen tener forma de S o de C. Aquí vemos un ejemplo de una escoliosis funcional generada por malos hábitos posturales (entre otras cosas), tales como sentarse sobre un pie, este tipo de escoliosis es el resultado de fuerzas musculares no balanceadas en la columna vertebral. Dalam memandu gerakan pun Ann tidak memaksa, karena semua gerakan merupakan bagian dari observasi. Dari keterbatasan gerak yang dilakukan pasien, sedikit demi sedikit Ann bisa menentukan ketepatan gerak serta alat bantu terapi bagi pasien. Menurut Elise B. Miller, ahli yoga, dalam tulisannya di situs Yoga for teens with Scoliosis, latihan gerakan yoga (asana) ditujukan untuk memperbaiki postur dan meningkatkan kelenturan dan kekuatan otot, dengan cara menarik dan memperkuat otot-otot yang menunjang tulang belakang. Posisi Adho Mukha Svanasana dan Urdhva Mukha Svanasana baik untuk membentuk dan memperbaiki lengkungan dan rotasi tulang belakang. Sedangkan Bharadvajasana untuk memperkuat kaki sebagai penyangga tulang belakang. "I tried to hide the back brace I had to wear which meant nobody could even touch me without me being frightened. I hid myself away, constantly scanning my surroundings for potential 'danger' . My inner critic got louder & louder & I found myself worrying constantly about what others might think of me. I couldn't spend time by myself because it made me so anxious to feel the sadness & look at my thoughts . I distracted myself with partying hard, alcohol & constantly being out . At the age of 24 I had this inner calling to move to Fuerteventura, which I couldn't explain as I had never been there! I just followed my heart . And it was there, I started practicing yoga . Now I see the big picture: I started practicing yoga in a healing environment. I learned to love the silence & even more importantly: Yoga taught me to love myself! I felt all the sadness & hit rock-bottom in order to be able to grow into a new version of myself . I learned that the key is not to search on the outside, but within yourself. That your relationships get so much richer as soon as you start focusing on how to be there for others instead of sulking in your own misery. I found my way and my calling! . My favourite asana! 😅✨ • • • Savasana, or corpse pose at the end of the lesson is just amazing. This is the time where the magic happens. Where everything comes together. Where body, mind and spirit get balanced. 🍀🌈 • • • I have been to classes where savasana was skipped or only done for 1 min or so. Why? Maybe because people think it’s “just” lying around, some can’t cope with the silence and being with themselves or there is just no time left?! I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️ • • • But please, please, please do NOT skip savasana and take enough time for the puzzle pieces to connect.
