Did you know I couldn’t do lolasana for like 10 years of my practice? I focused so much on trying to understand my core and trying different things. Even when I could do it, it wasn’t consistent...it’s almost as if I didn’t eat before, I got warmed up, I wore the right shorts, then I could do it. But if I could only do it under specific circumstances does that mean I really get it? Of course the answer is no. It wasn’t until I truly let go of trying to make my body do lolasana and instead just focused on what movements in my body are not working as optimally in all ranges of motion and starting there. What I intended with “Full Body Core” on @alo.moves is you get to try different movements in your yoga practice that can identify the gaps in your body movements, not your poses practice. I've been thinking way too long about what kind of message this caption should have. I didn't surrender. Instead, I just tried to force something out of my head. That's not how it works. When something needs to be said, it comes from the heart, and when something is planned or forced it comes from the mind. It doesn't have to be a bad thing, but that is not what YOU want to be said. Sometimes, or mostly, we're using our minds too much for our own good and we're forgetting to listen to our hearts. And this is what I define as: Confusing. B U S Y ——————————————————————— Tomorrow is my first day off in 2 weeks. I’ve been Busy with yoga training and also starting my personal training diploma whilst still working with clients and classes. I’m pretty tired physically but my spirit is soring high because it’s my choice to have it this way! While my personal practice has suffered ; still practicing when I can but never like it was. The last two weeks I came to a big realizations that time on my mat isn’t just my yoga. It’s actually the smallest percentage. My yoga lies in the reason behind why I’ve been flat out, working hard and learning more so I can be the best teacher or guide I can. So I can work out where it is I stand as a teacher in this yoga life and what I want to give to the world around me. I used to get so caught up with “loosing” my practice when now I truly see that my “practice” is my life. What happens when I roll my mat up and connect to the world. HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR BRIDGE (pt. 4) A disclaimer; this is by no means a scientific approach to building a bridge. This is just what worked for me. This might not be for everyone, but I found it to be a great apporach for someone who starts with movement later in life, like me. The exercises should be done for 30 seconds or more, and you can do them several times in one session if you want to. They should also be done at least three times a week or more for significant results, at least it was so in my case. For the exercises that work one side, remember to do the other. 7. Camel pose. Now that we have opened the hips, belly and quads this will open up the front of the body in a more connected way, including the chest. It is a very useful warm up stretch, because it is very similar to the full position we want to get into. Remember to activate your glutes and push your pelvis forwards. Can't reach your hands to your feet? No problem, just place your hands palms upwards or to the side on your sacrum instead. Push your chest up to the sky as much as you can, remembering to be aware of your lower back. 8. A more advanced camel pose which stretches your front body also diagonally. You should feel a stretch in the hips, and also belly, chest and front of the shoulders. Remember to do each side. Feel like you are falling sideways? Do this facing nearby a bed or a bench. That way you can catch yourself if you tip. This one is quite advanced, so it is okay if you don't get it right away. 9. Pigeon pose. Pigeon pose is an awesome stretch before your brigdes because it gives you a deep stretch through both thighs, hips, belly and chest. Go as deep as you'd like. Hold as long as you can. The day before my period I always start to feel a big shift in my emotions and body ~ it’s important to let your body lead and listen when it tells you to soften, slow down and take those extra naps ✌🏼✨ . This is probably harder than it seems for most of us. Personally, I don’t think I would ever slow down if it wasn’t for my period which forces me to chill out whether I want to or not 😌 During this time I mainly do a restorative yoga practice like this one. 💕 ✨ Here’s a few things that I do and they help tremendously for PMS! 💥 ✨ first sign of cramps- get tub running with the hottest water I can stand. Drop in essential oils of either ylang ylang, vetiver, geranium or peppermint. ✨ throw in 1 cup Dead Sea salts / Pink Himalayan salts and light a candle 🕯- the hot water + EOs + salts really help release muscle tension and soothe the cramps like no other! Oils like vetiver help to release mental tension 😜 ✨ sometimes after this bath I go straight into a nap or lay down in my bed. Music wise, for some reason, my go to soundtrack is music from Pride and Prejudice ha! I love the composer Dario Marionelli ✨I also dilute peppermint essential oil in some carrier oil like sunflower and rub that on my tummy! Peppermint helps relieve cramps a lotttt. After the first day I use my @mikoshop.co Peppermint + Cypress body butter on the tummy and anywhere else I’m feeling tension. ✨ What helps you? If you have any tips I’d love to hear it ♥️⚡️

I’m not gonnna lie to you and say that I do yoga for hours each day because I fuckin don’t. Some days I lose myself for an hour and some days I only have time for 15 minutes of stretching. Then there are those days where I just don’t want to. Period. I do it anyway. I always have to remind myself that my #yogapractice isn’t just a workout. It’s a self care routine. Just the way I take my meds every night and wash my face everyday. For me yoga is a release of my negative energies in a daily self care routine. There’s nothing wrong with the way you practice. We all learn differently because we are all individuals on a journey to find our inner self. There is no one soul that works the same therefore we all have our own ideas of how to take care of and learn from the person we know best; that person, that beautiful human that stares back at you from behind your bathroom mirror 💖🕉 - “the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is it's not an adventure. There's no way to do it so wrong you might die. It's just work. And the bottom line is, some people are okay going to work, and some people well, some people would rather die. Backbends have never been my strength and improving my back flexibility has been a huge goal of mine. Of course there were days I didn’t even want to bother but then I thought “nothing changes if nothing changes.” I stayed consistent and am happy to see the progression.
