Growing up Buddhist, I’ve always understood that animals have souls just as much as we humans do, but I don’t want to get into that. In reality, most of the animals that we find in our markets, underwent alot of stress, being farmed, caged, pumped with antibiotics and hormones, and then eventually slaughtered perhaps while conscious. I can’t even imagine how eating those animals would nurture our bodies when its meat is completely tainted with pain and suffering. It’s easy to consume animal meats without thinking about where it comes from. But it’s important that we realized how all the work these farmers put into farming animals for our society to consume, greatly impacts the environment as a major contributor to water and air pollution, and sadly leading to deforestation. Let’s reflect on the current global crisis: the fire that’s been burning at an alarming rate in the Amazon of Brazil for weeks now. Is it really necessary to clear land for farming more animals because we need to always consume meats? I’m not here to convince anyone to stop eating meat. Now, I have to regroup and rethink my decision. I’m learning that resting is as important as movement. This pose is about me finding my balance and also allowing my knee to bend. #garlandpose is another great stretch for #back issues. If you wrap your arms like garlands around your legs and grab your heels and pull you will find a nice stretch for your low back and shoulders. Arms wrap from a yogic squat inside of your knees to outside of your shins to under your heels. Pull with your arm strength and sink your low back down. Great stretch. Have a good weekend. In my beginnings in this practice and discipline called Ashtanga Yoga, I dreamed for many years and practice very hard to be able to practice this posture. I will never forget the face of my sisters Mara @maraskywalker77 & Mariel @negrita3333 when they first saw Day @day1yoga practicing Titibasana a-b-c-d for the first time. Day looked like an alien walking upside down through the entire room, also like Linda Blair. 😳🤣🙌🏼 This posture as you see it today in this video, conforms part of the second series of ashtanga yoga better known as “Nadi Shodhana.” After ten years of practice I tell you that here flexibility, strength, stamina, mind control, energy, and yes power are tested, but above all the BREATHING. This practice can only be done with devotion, with surrender, with love with a lot of dedication. Dedication that takes the practitioner into amazing reflections and meditations that are very personal and empowering. Self love is what this beautiful path offers us, an opportunity to explore our minds using the breath as a vehicle. King Cobra 🐍♥️ If this is a pose you’re working on and are seeking a foot to head connection (or something in the vicinity), then hopefully these tips will be useful. The full expression of this pose eluded me for a long time - mostly because I was trying to push or muscle myself into it. I learned over time that breath, softening and ‘meeting in the middle’ (bring my feet to my head as much as bringing my head to my feet) helped tremendously. Practicing frontal hip openers and preparing the spine for backbending, also key. This pose requires a big hamstring contraction. It’s that contraction that brings the feet to meet the head. The key to any successful recovery is listening to your needs. That’s what I’ve loved about this journey so far. At times it may be tough and painful and it seems like relief is far away. But I’ve been trying this new thing where if I feel a negative thought coming on, I take a deep breath and think a positive thought instead. It’s been really helpful for keeping a positive outlook on things. I’ve been doing a lot of self-care too. Just anything my body can handle and feel comfortable in. And that’s made this journey really cool. I feel like I get to know myself a little better everyday. 🙏🏼

I am never going to be someone who is a certain way on social media, and different IRL! ⁣ ⁣ I would never want to put on a front that I am perfect, because ultimately I believe as a coach, as someone who is posturing themselves as a guide to healing and optimal health, I would be asking YOU to be perfect as well and we don’t need ANYMORE standards in our society than we already have⁣ ⁣ So yes, 90% of the time I’m doing all the “right” things, working out, eating clean, getting my shit done, but the other 10% of the time I am indulging in a delicious treat(probably from vegan treats), having some trulys with the fam, or having a whole night out with my friends-completely unconcerned about counting calories, tracking food, or my gut health. I mean I’m 21 years old!! I’m am still going to live my life to the fullest WHILE nourishing my one and only body ⁣ ⁣ THIS is the message I want to spread! I refuse to be the coach that tells you do one thing, and does the opposite themself! I’m on this journey WITH you.
