Working on my mermaid pose and stretching the hips, front of the thighs and stretching my chest. This is an advanced pose and not one I teach in Beginning Yoga. It’s a huge challenge and I still need a strap to help get completely into the position. I love stretching my body and getting it as flexible as possible. As we age, we are prone to losing our range of motion that can lead to a fall or a break or injured muscles. Proper stretching as in Yoga is very beneficial to increasing your range of motion and flexibility. Our hip flexors need to be stretched due to the fact that we sit more in our cars, at our desks and sitting on the couch watching Netflix. By practicing stretching and/or Yoga 10-20 minutes daily will really make a difference. Age or your abilities doesn’t matter , we ALL benefit from Yoga. I use chair Yoga, light weights for Power Yoga and Meditation along with learning proper breathing. This is also beneficial for kids, women, men and seniors. If you have mobility limitations I am trained for that as well I also do personal 1 on 1 Yoga ( Personal Trainer dees apply). Yoga also helps for weight loss, it massages your internal organs, strengthens you and helps lower blood pressure among other health benefits. . It can be challenging but don’t be intimidated Yoga is amazing. . Supported Tuck Crunches are the progression from Supported Hops (See Previous Post). Great for the abs and grip strength as well as working the arms a little.💪 Start in a Supported Chair Pose with main sign behind shoulders like a strap. Arms around the outside of sling holding onto the middle handles for support. On an exhale lift and tuck legs into chest and hold briefly then on an inhale with control bring legs down hovering off the floor. Exhale repeat several times. On the last rep tuck legs up for several seconds and then perhaps to increase difficulty straighten them while dorsal flexing the feet. To increase the intensity slow the movement down with more control bringing legs up and down. Relax into Titanic Pose afterwards to rest and perhaps repeat. “It’s not that they don’t give a fuck. It’s that they have transcended the fucks.” YES!! I just finished listening to Amy MacDonald’s (@amyyogabizcoach) podcast “Jungle or Garden? Crazy Wisdom for Your Yoga Biz” and that phrase perfectly sums up what I have been feeling for the last 9 months (which also happens to be about the length of time I have been taking in her words of wisdom). I kept wanting to say, “I don’t give a fuck” but that phrase tends to have a negative tone to it. Plus, I do give a fuck about some things. I have just finally transcended many of the fucks that don’t serve me to give. Like the fact that some people are going to be really turned off by how many fucks are in this post. That is a fuck I have transcended because censoring myself is not how I roll. Fuck yeah Amy! If you give a fuck about my recent handstand transitions posts, here’s another one. This one is high lunge to warrior 3 to revolved half moon, switching via handstand. Have a fucking blast rebel yogis!
