In today’s distracted world of a million different thing fighting for tour attention, it seems hard or even impossible to “clear your mind”. 🧘🏻‍♀️ . . . I’ve been doing a meditation course called Waking Up with @samharrisorg and one big thing I’ve taken away that it’s unnecessary to try to think of nothing, to try to reject reality and find some higher peace. Instead, we can train our mind to notice but ignore, which is much more powerful. Another strategy is to learn to hyper focus on one thing, which allows all the rest to fade into the background. . For example- in my yoga classes @syracuseyoga I’ve been encouraging people to hyper focus on their breath during #savasana. By either counting each breath, or thinking “in” on each inhale and “out” on each inhale, you find that you are unable to let your mind wander, and you are completely present in the moment. If you’re able to do that just for a few minutes each day, you will find that when you re-engage with the world, you are more calm, more centered and more mindful. . We talk all the time about the need to train our bodies, but training the mind is no less - if not more - important. Training your mind to be strong allows to you have better discipline, control your emotions, get a handle on your anxiety, and get control of your life! . . ➡️ Find FIVE MINUES. Yes, you! Yes, you have FIVE MINUTES. Nobody is so busy that they don’t have five minutes to unplug and breathe. Try hyper focusing on your breath, and let me know how you feel after!!! . . .
