Never let anyone determine your worth for you, or allow them to try and fix parts of you that they don’t like. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you’re being true to who and what YOU are. And if someone wants to try and change or fix things about you, I’d take that as a big clue to walk swiftly in the opposite direction. Never feel ashamed about things that make you, you. You’ll meet someone who doesn’t try and change what makes you you, they’ll actually love you for it. So shine your light, and those that deserve to be in your life, will be. I was always told I was too muscular, too developed at a young age, big boned, too thick... that I should tone up, slim down, fit into a tighter package. Now, a few years later, suddenly, my body is fashionable. My body is acceptable and in style. Looking the way I have for years is suddenly the “in thing.” Big glutes and thick thighs are now desirable. Let me tell you something people, no matter your shape, your weight, your height.... YOU ARE NOT A TREND. If you are slender, that is stylish. If you are robust, that is stylish. If you are chubby, that is stylish. If you are muscular, that is stylish. TO BE YOU IS TO BE ON TREND. Don’t let our media, and comparison shape whether or not you think your actual flesh is of any greater or lesser value because of “what’s trending.” That is just whack, and it turns human beings into objects. I am NOT an object, and neither are you, sisters and brothers. Neither are you.

Good morning! I can’t believe we are already into Day 11 of #WinterYogiGames 🎄 Today we dance into grace with the Fallen Angel Pose. This inversion used to be a bit tricky for me. I’d look at it and have no idea how to enter. There was a moment in my practice where it clicked. I was in EPK 2 and then it hit me. I let my head sink down and meet the ground, and my back foot rise up. There is a strong hold in the core to keep that shape. Remember, core is more than our Abs, the hold will be more in the posterior body, as the ES and QL will also be working to hold that firm shape as you move. Happy flying to y’all! A prop, such as a folded blanket, may be used to support the neck while in this pose. Furthermore, a woman should not perform Ananda Balasana while pregnant, unless a skilled yoga practitioner modifies the pose for her separately. Getting into Happy Baby Pose: Begin by laying flat on your back. Exhale and bend the knees into the belly. Inhale and grip the outside of each foot with the corresponding hand. If you are performing Dead Bug Pose, hold on to the inside of each foot instead. If you find it difficult to grip your feet, try looping a belt or yoga strap over each sole and holding on to the ends of it. Open your knees slightly wider than your torso and bring them up towards your armpits. If you are performing Dead Bug Pose, your Stack each ankle directly over the knee so that the shins are perpendicular to the floor. With gentle movements, push your feet up into your hands and pull down with your hands to create resistance. Flex your feet. Lengthen your spine as you bring your thighs into your torso and towards the floor. Hold this posture for 30 seconds to a minute. Exhale and release the feet back to the floor. The best attitude that I can cultivate to live life well is one with a peaceful heart. Whenever I am too attached to any goal to any particular direction, it messes me up. Even if it’s just that I want to do a really good job, even that desire plays with my headspace. It’s like when I’m just having fun, when I’m earnestly just interested in seeing what wants to happen, then all things are possible. But as soon as I want to “do” it, then there’s a layer of tension that interferes with the flow of energy. This is perhaps a simple illustration of the beauty of non-attachment. If you’re able to simply explore the moment without any agenda, then you’re spontaneous and free. But there’s a balance. The trick for me is actually to find non-attachment amidst great focus and effort.
