My face says it all, and this was only the first part! I could feel something brewing last night, and woke up to my new worst nightmare: a cough. I know, worse things have happened, but it’s all relative. I’ll tell you for free, coughing with fake abs isn’t fun. I’d promised myself I’d train, so off I went. As I warmed up, I remembered that I’d also promised myself that I’d push some weights up today 🤦🏼‍♀️ but push I did. At first, the struggle was real, and I nearly ducked out. But just in time, I remembered something else I’d done. Cheesy as it may sound, I’d written myself a note for each day this week, something to motivate me and guide me through. Today’s was about confidence in my strength, and recalling it actually helped. In fact, I pretty much flew from that point on. It’s been a busy day, I’m looking forward to a rest. But damn if I won’t be channeling that mentality again tomorrow morning. I have been thinking a bit about my core beliefs lately, as they relate to chronic long term illness, such as chronic fatigue syndrome. One of my key beliefs is that if we identify and work on our root causes we can improve our quality of life and hopefully make a full recovery over a period of years. I believe that there are root causes to why we have developed our illness and that if the ‘system’ does not provide any answers for how we get better, we need to become health detectives. We need to try to dig deeper and find answers about firstly what are the root causes. Once we are clear on those we can identify what we can do about them. There are people with victim mentality with chronic illness and people with warrior mentality. I like to think of myself more on the latter. The people that really are meant to be in my ‘tribe’, who I really want to connect with, are those who like me have a positive and optimistic outlook of what could be, rather than resigned to the fact that we are ‘stuck’ with this chronic illness for the rest of our days. While I believe we need to accept our limits for now on what we can and can not do, I don’t want to stop working towards more vitality and more health. Root causes I have identified for myself and been working on: candida and parasites (gut health issues) adrenal fatigue and being in fight or flight (nervous system issues) situational stress (occupation, long commute, broken relationships) toxicity (at a minimum mercury toxicity from amalgams and vaccinations) environmental (mould although small amounts in my current house - now addressed) hormonal (thyroid autoimmune markers raised) connective tissue disorder ( a genetic issue) Only the last two have been identified via the NHS. Each one of these issues I have done work on. One of the consistent things I have done is to work on my digestive health. Each year I try to do a quarterly Doterra 30 day cleanse and restore. This works on my digestive health and my detoxification pathways. The first time I did it alone, but then I asked friends and family it they wanted to join me. September 7th I will start again. Do you want to join me with an online support group?
