I started practicing this when I moved to Fort Worth to start my Masters program. In the past I was so worried about what was going on at home (4hrs away) especially the relationship between my sister (16 year old and the typical crazy teen) and my parents. The relationship always been rocky and I felt like I had to be the middle man when there were conflicts. They would come to me and rant about each other, asking advice and just venting. I always felt an obligation to try and make them all feel better, patch up broken bridges and mediate... but then I realized I have NO control over what goes on 180 miles away, I don’t see what they go through and I can’t help them fix their own problems, and trust me, I have enough problems of my own too! So I set up boundaries, and it’s hard, and it takes time but learning to let them forgive it out, to not try and get involved and remember that stressing over things you have NO CONTROL OVER... is self sabotage, a bad habit and can be so detrimental to your mental and emotional health. ☃️ during the holidays remember to let go of the family crap you can’t control, don’t stress about the weather, or what white elephant gift you’re getting for that work party! Content⠀ ⠀ This use to be my constant struggle with health and fitness:⠀ ⠀ 💔Spending hours working out each week and never *feeling* good about myself.⠀ ⠀ 💔Feeling GUILT about almost everything I was rating.⠀ ⠀ 💔Fully GIVING UP and doing nothing. ⠀ ⠀ 💔Looking at myself in the mirror and JUDGING. I was never good enough.⠀ ⠀ It was exhausting. 🤦🏼‍♀️⠀ ⠀ In hindsight I realize that I felt like I had to deprive myself and go hardcore which cannot be sustained. That is not a lifelong habit. I needed balance. ⚖️⠀ ⠀ I came across a simple fitness and nutrition program that changed my life. It’s been 3 years and I can easily say I’ve made permanent lifelong habits. 🙌🏻🤸🏼‍♀️👏🏻⠀ ⠀ My balanced lifestyle looks like this now:⠀ ⠀ ❣️Working out about 30 minutes a day because it *feels* good. ⠀ ⠀ ❣️Eating nutritious foods that taste GOOD and make me enjoy eating healthy. ⠀ ⠀ ❣️INDULGING in those not so healthy foods I love here and there so I’m not feeling deprived. ⠀ ⠀ ❣️Being MINDFUL about what makes my body feel good and what doesn’t. ⠀ ⠀ ❣️Telling myself I’m BEAUTIFUL, strong and can achieve anything I put my focus on.⠀ ⠀ I wish this for everyone. We ended up leaving quite a bit of rice in the bowl and next time we’ll order it with light cheese orrrrr maybe no cheese at all! Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. I can honestly say that in the past I was food focused and pretty addicted to sugar. I mean hell, the stuff is made with the intention of getting you to crave it. NOW though, I can confidently say that I don’t crave it like I did in the past. - Today on @Markbellspowerproject we talked a bit about how age should never slow you down from making a change, but we also rapped about what specific habit(s) helped us run into other beneficial habits. - Personally for me, starting to do some time restricted eating or fasting (same damn thing) helped me a ton with my “cravings”. In the past, I would justify low quality “shit” food by making it fit my macros. In truth, I really wanted to make it fit because I craved it so damn much. I know you might be in the same boat, so this might be a tactic you try. - I’ve made videos about it on YouTube, but some benefits I’ve gained from fasting are as follows: ▪️Massively reduces craving of sugar and trash food ▪️Compared to the past, I can stay at lean bf levels without feeling like donkey doodoo ▪️The feeling of hunger doesn’t bother me or control my actions. I’m the dom now 😉 ▪️For the guys scared of muscle loss...None has happened. Literally I’ve lost body fat, through this process, yes caloric restriction was easier, but I don’t even feel like I’m dieting. There are a lot of other processes going on underneath the hood. - There have been other habits that have been built in the meantime, but picking up fasting was the keystone habit that got the ball rolling.
