Vata is often associated with the elements of wind and ether and what moves things in the body and in the world. Without Vata, the wind or breath, the other doshas are not able to move. From a personality perspective Vata is adaptable and often shies away from discipline or regularity. Respiration and circulation are qualities of this dosha. Vata people are often idiosyncratic. Physically they may lack symmetry or have irregularities. Their hair is often fine and veins are easily visible under their often dry, chapped skin. _ Day 5 is Utkatasana, the Chair Pose, an asana that can balance Vata when practiced with an emphasis on deep breathing. Sinking down into the hips activates the quadriceps. Raising the arms stimulates the cardiovascular system. “Happiness is my birthright” 🙏🏻 sono due giorni che mi sveglio recitando questo mantra e ripetendolo anche nelle classi in cui insegno yoga. Troppo spesso tendiamo a dimenticarci che la felicità è un diritto di nascita, ci sentiamo in colpa o troviamo poco sensato agire consapevolmente in virtù di una felicità che è nostra di diritto. Ma ancor più inconsapevolmente ci dimentichiamo che questo diritto appartiene a tutti gli esseri umani. E che dove inizia la libertà altrui finisce la nostra. In questi giorni pieni di impegni e preparativi per il mio viaggio in India trovare dei momenti di felicità e degli attimi per me stessa è diventato un must to do. Insegnare le mie classi mi rende felice ed è una gioia immensa, passeggiare con chaos sui manti di foglie dai colori autunnali che riempiono le strade, una cena con un’amica speciale, cantare a squarciagola nei miei viaggi in auto (che nella mia prossima vita vorrei nascere cantautrice grazie), passare del tempo con la mia famiglia, abbracciare i miei nonni e cercare l’arredamento per la mia nuova casetta. Non pensiamo che la felicità di diritto che abbiamo ci debba portare ad essere felici sempre, sorridere, non provare fatica o momenti difficili. Utkatasana- Sandalye pozu... Öncelikle belirtmeliyim ki, yoga asanalarında kesin doğru diye bir şey yok. Çünkü hepimizin eklem yapısı birbirinden farklı... Bu yüzden 20 kişilik bir derste 20 kişinin de aynı poz içerisindeki görünümü farklı oluyor. Dolayısıyla pozlara bedenimizin izin verdiği ölçüde ve şekilde girmek, doğru olan... Kimimiz utkatasana’da ayaklarını birleştirdiğinde kimimiz ise birbirinden ayırdığında rahat ediyor. Bazılarımızda üst beden öne ve ileriye doğru konumlanırken bazılarındaysa dik bir şekilde göğe yükseliyor. Bakışlar, ayak bileklerinin fleksiyonu, ayakların bitişik yada açık duruşu, dizlerin açısı, kolların yandan yada önden kalkışı ve üst bedenin konumu gibi faktörler pozu ve pozun bedende yarattığı etkiyi değiştiriyor. Peki bunlardan hangisini yaparsak poza dogru girmiş oluruz? Her seferinde farklı şekillerde deneyimleyebiliriz ve böylelikle etkileri de farklı olur. / S T R E N G T H vs F L E X I B I L I T Y / Everyone’s yoga practice will be different because every body is different. It’s important through the practice to search for what you need; to know what it is that you want to take away from the practice. Balance is necessary, and while it’s of course nice and comfortable to stay and focus on what we’re good at, what comes easily to us, in the end yoga isn’t about either of those things. . For me flexibility has always come easier than strength. In the beginning I just wanted to work on stretching because that’s what I was good at. Strength has taken me more time and much more effort to be able to incorporate, but it’s the only way I’m able to have a balanced, well rounded practice. . There is nothing more gratifying for me than advancing with something related to strength. Even my flexibility - my strong point - is now totally dependent on it. . For the final day of #thankfulheartedyogis I wanted to share the final sequence of standing postures in the #primaryseries. The sequence of #utkatasana to #virabhadrasana has always made me feel strong, grounded, powerful, and capable. It’s changed over the years as my practice has progressed and my strength has grown and I’ve been able to include floats and presses, but that feeling of strength has always been the same since day 1. From the beginning it’s a sequence that let me know that I was capable of so much more if I was just willing to put the the time in and PRACTICE. . From day 70/100 uninterrupted practice. More fun and games with Utkatasana-Fierce Pose. Opting to experiment with straps. I found them quite helpful to push out slightly at the outer thighs and compact my hips...and out at the wrists to help keep the actions of the arms, back and abdominals organized. ⛷⛷⛷You ready Colorado!?
