La flexibilidad es un componente muy importante en el entrenamiento diario, ya que permite mayor movilidad articular, mejora la ejercitación y los movimientos, contribuyendo así, a la prevención de lesiones. Entre los métodos para ejercitar la flexibilidad se encuentran: •Método de flexibilidad estática: consiste en que el mismo individuo, sin ayuda externa, realice el ejercicio manteniendo una posición fija mientras siente que los músculos y tendones se estiran. •Método de flexibilidad asistida: hay una fuerza externa que ayuda a la persona que ésta elongando. Por ejemplo, una persona ayuda a otra a realizar los ejercicios, lo cual permite al individuo que está trabajando, relajarse más y mejorar los movimientos. •Método de flexibilidad dinámica: se ejercita utilizando los movimientos de los miembros corporales. Algunos la incluyen como una sub-categoría dentro de la flexibilidad activa. Se inicia de forma leve y la velocidad se va incrementando lentamente a medida que avanza el número de repeticiones. •Método Balístico: se realiza con un movimiento ejercido por fuerzas internas en donde la articulación es llevada a su máximo estiramiento. Este método es desaconsejado por muchos especialistas debido a que el estiramiento del músculo es muy rápido y por ello, no cuenta con el tiempo necesario para adaptarse a la nueva elongación. Cuando se impone una elongación repentina el músculo responde de forma refleja con una contracción involuntaria, lo cual incrementa la tensión del músculo haciendo muy difícil la mejora del movimiento. Ejercitar la flexibilidad no sólo mejora el rendimiento físico y la calidad de los movimientos, sino que permite una mejor postura, disminuye el dolor muscular después del ejercicio, facilita el flujo sanguíneo y previene lesiones. I was never a gymnast or a dancer, all you see here I have learned as an adult( >35). Three years ago I could kick up to a very short handstand but a drop back was totally out of question, not to mention a kick over. I was 39 when I did my first kick over, and I was just so happy! And by this I want to say that it’s never too late. Whether its a dream you want to follow or something you want to learn, just go for it! Dedication will take you there! . Struggle. No one wants to talk about it. Yet we all have our own. Judgement over that struggle is what cripples us. Been quiet on here because was stuck in a bit of a shame storm. Shame for having perfectly human emotions- emotions I have heard from countless friends and clients yet when I heard it from them was easily able to extend compassion to them. Didn’t see any reason to judge. Yet when it comes to myself, it’s so much harder. The “shoulds” kick in- you shouldn’t feel that way. Labels- well if you think that it must mean you haven’t grown. I’m calling bull on all that. We are humans, we struggle, we go back to old habits, we get “stuck”. No matter how far into the process we are. The most important thing is, what happens next? Bringing awareness and extending compassion for the feelings and then turning to tools that have worked in the past- therapy, Journalling, yoga, time to breathe. Anyone out there relate? Just a gentle reminder- you are not alone. Keep going!
