Get back on your feet and grind girl! With the chaos of huge changes looming and pain & fatigue levels at an all time high, getting on my bike and running where the absolute last thing on my mind (although I missed it my body just ran out of spoons... more on the spoon theory in another post). Man did it feel bloody amazing to get back on the saddle! I lost so much cardio and my body literally turned to mush but I am determined to work my ass off to get back to where I was. 1st Zwift Academy Tri workout done! Definitely having erg and cadence sensor issues with my neo which resulted in an epic fail as far as workout segment stars were concerned but hey! I am back on my bike and it felt bloody fantastic! Looking forward to my first Zwift Academy tri run next! Who else has joined the Tri Academy?

Ungewöhnlich voll war es im Hallenbad, auf den 2 rechten Bahnen 🏊🏻‍♂️ tummelten sich bis zu 14 Schwimmer - da musste man sich seinen ‚Slot‘ suchen, damit es tempomässig halbwegs harmonierte. Nach meinen paar Drills hab ich dann eine kleine Pyramide improvisiert (50-100-150-200-250-200-150- 100-50) und mich dabei nach kurzen Pausen jeweils wieder neu einsortiert. Ging ganz gut... Reflecting on my 70.3 racing season and I quickly recall climbing some challenging hills in Madison. One comment from another athlete has really stuck with me, “Man, you climb those hills like they aren’t even there, how do you do that?” Well, I always have improvements to make, but one thing is for certain, I have a fearless mindset and I will always attack and be aggressive on hills. Remember, what goes up almost always comes down. Vo2max workout today was 4x3 min intervals: 1@350, 1@400, 1@450 on 3 min rest. Not gonna lie could not hold exactly 450 on the last minute but that’s how VO2max intervals should be-about 2-6 min of feeling like you are holding on for dear life and can just barely get through each one. You can mimic this workout on any cardio you like; treadmill, stairs, rower, track, etc: 1min hard, 1min very hard, 1min basically all out followed by 3min rest. Doing this type of training 1-2 times per week will yield massive gains in a relatively short time. (ps I’ve gotten some msgs asking me how I know the numbers I’m using are accurate-the short answer is that I absolutely do NOT know if they are! I’ve done some deep diving into bike power and it is EXTREMELY complicated-like rocket science complicated- just ask @cody.beals or @jordanrapp or other triathletes who are basically genius engineers- and I just have no idea if the bikes at the gym are an accurate representation of the watts I’m able to push!
