I’d constantly put myself down and doubt my ability to reach my goals because I didn’t think I was “as good” as other people. #tbt for a little #transformation ☺️💪 I have always been very thin, and very active so by my 20’s I had accepted that as my body type. In late 2017 at 30 I was inspired to get into #weightlifting and I am so grateful I did. • • I decided to try an online full body lifting program from a doc I admire and respect (@bretcontreras1 ) that is a steal at only 29/mo and found an awesome personal trainer from @ironorrfitness near where I live to make sure I was setting my form up for success. • • Fast forward one year, I am now 15lbs heavier, so much stronger and exponentially happier/healthier emotionally and physically. Something #empowering about #liftingheavyshit 🥰💪🙌🏻. The top 5 things I'm doing now to lose the weight I've regained so I can get back to this transformation pictured! . 1. Tracking my intake. While I understand this doesn't work for everyone I think it is highly important to have an understanding of nutrition, your daily needs, and how close you are to those needs. The honest answer is that you're not going to lose weight if you aren't eating the right amount and creating some sort of caloric deficit. . 2. Increasing Activity Straight forward but as humans we get bored when we repeat action. I used to be able to do 20-40min sessions of stationary cardio but now I dread every minute. So I found a solution by joining my local YMCA and playing lots of drop in sports. If you are dreading part of the journey, turn it into something you can enjoy. . 3. Being Honest with myself. Its easy to make excuses or ignore internal or external issues but the faster you accept them the faster you can work on a solution. Admitting your faults is not an excuse, its your first step towards success. . 4. Having a key support group. Whether this is friends or family or a group on facebook, have people you can connect with. Click the link in my bio to join our facebook group full of people working towards the same goal. Its super supportive and leaves you feeling unified rather than alone. . 5. Have Patience. This is going to take time so stop thinking you're not doing good enough. I never ever want to hear or see "I only lost 2lbs this week". While yes we can always do better, its important to be happy with every step taken towards the goal at hand. If you're making any steps away from your former unhealthy life then that is something that should always be celebrated. Time is your best friend. . For those with back issues, I have a herniated L4, L-5 and S-1 give this a try on leg day. Get a good base in smith machine for squats and point toes out, come down like your taking a seat and back up for 8. Then right to farmers carry for 5 steps, down, up, walk back for 5 steps, down, up and repeat for 8. It's what you're willing to accept, tolerate or say no to in your life existence. You're emotions are constantly guiding you to understand where you have solid or unstable boundaries. Listen to them carefully. The more you know who you are, the stronger and clearer your boundaries will become. That's personal power, that's sovereignty.
