Good morning!!! ☀️☀️☀️ #AshtangaMondays - and welcome to a new week!!! It’s week 43 - and we take a closer look at #suptapadangusthasana . From downdog - on sapta - Inhale and jump through to seated and exhale as you lie flat on your back. Astau - inhale, place left hand on left thigh and lift righ leg and take hold of the big toe. Nava, exhale, engage bandhas and lift the upper body towards the leg, chin to shin. Stay five breaths. Dasa, inhale, lower head down. Dwadasa, exhale, bring right foot to the side, look to left. This position is also called supta parsvasahita. Stay five breaths. Dvadasa, inhale, bring the right foot back. Trayodasa, exhale, lift upper back, chin to shin. Caturdasa, inhale, lower down again. Pancadasa, place both arms to the side, lower leg. Sodasa - the same procedure on the left side, slide to see counts and breath in my video. . As you probably have noticed both Lotta and I didn’t finish the full sequence today - we are delighted to share that we have invited a very special guest in November to help us work on the chakrasana transition - @davidrobsonyoga (see last slide)♥️ will be joining us all Monday 5th of November to share his practice and teaching of this transition😊🙏 . Welcome to a new fresh week with #ashtangamondays 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ Week 43 and this week we will take a closer look at: Supta Padangustahasana (Sleeping thumb to foot posture) This asana helps to cleanse the rectum (Guda Nala), the urinary tract (Veerya Nala) the oesophagus(Anna Nala), the veins (Rakta Nala) and the waist (Katitra Pradhesha ) is kept free from fat. When there are pains in the side ribs (pakkelubu) these are also cured. I can definitely see a difference between right (first slide) and left (second slide). But it's not a huge difference. day 16 of #CollateralPractice is #suptapadangusthasana This one is all about learning to engage & stretch properly those ‘side muscles’ of the body. That part of the torso is a big highway cross, where muscles from the front ‘travel’ towards the back and vice versa. As with most highways, things get stuck and you think you’ll never advance... There are also big, dense, structures (hips, ribcage) that go all around so, the more you integrate these poses into your routine, the easier/faster your practice will move. A bendy spine is not just about folding back & forth, when you add degrees of mobility, side to side, it’ll affect movement between vertebrae, hence backbends will go deeper. Same thing with hip openers. When it comes to strength & stability in inversions and arm balances, if you engage properly those areas, you’ll be able to ‘lock’ poses without wobbliness nor overusing areas like wrists or shoulders. It’s a win-win all around, join these 28 days and see for yourself!! Holidays are coming up and you might feel more sluggish than usual, hence the more reason to participate! This is the perfect excuse to practice and have a great time in the process. Seems like we all live in a box....and some appear to have more space than others. For me, I feel like Mary Poppins lately, living out of a suitcase. When I’m not flying around I stay in an apartment with about 20 other women. All are #flightattendants so, rarely are the same people there at the same time. How you perceive me isn’t how I see myself, same goes for vice versa. Boxes, may we shatter them and see our true form.....the one that goes beyond the surface. -kca #author . .
