Pregnancy, yikes! So far my experience has been ROUGH. We are just over 20 weeks (5 months) now and I’m starting to show just a little. My weight gain has been sparse. The first 19 weeks I puked everyday multiple times a day and was on nausea medication around the clock. 🤢🤮 . I tried every trick in the book with little relief. I lost 6lb with most of it being lean muscle. 😩 It was the worst sickness I have ever experienced. Going into pregnancy however, I was the most fit I have ever been. I felt strong and was pain free. 😍💪🏼 . But pregnancy is a whole different ball game. I’ve worked out 8 times total since the sickness started on week 4. At week 20 I am finally getting back into a weekly routine and establishing regular strength training. Luckily I know all the exercise modifications for pregnancy. My goals have changed but my main goal is to still be HEALTHY & STRONG! 💕⭐️ . Being pregnant just reinforces how I have always felt about the human body, it is amazing! Especially the female body. 💕 . Jackknife Crunch | common mistake The abdominal muscles work hard statically in order to stabilize the pelvis and the spine, and also dynamically to flex the spine. We must maintain a neutral rigid spine without allowing movement in the lumbar spine. The leg weight draws the pelvis forward through the hip flexors. The abdominals are supposed to stabilize the pelvis and prevent anterior tilt. With straight legs, the load on the abdominals and the hip flexors is higher, due to higher torque, so make sure your abdominals are strong enough to do it, if not, try the first variation with bent legs. 1. Lie flat on an exercise mat, extending your arms straight back behind your head. 2. Bend at your spine and at the same time, raise your legs and arms to meet in a closed jackknife position. Exhale as you do this. The target muscles are the abdominal muscles and the hip flexors. The hip flexors connect the legs to the upper body and pull the legs up. After years of multiple threats against the Airdyne bikes at the club - Mike has finally made good on those threats and turned them into a fulfilled promise this morning. During a 60 second bout on the bike - the strength and power he has developed over the years finally over powered the bike and sheered the left arm right off the bike!
