🔥NEVER SKIP LEG DAY🔥 . . -When I reached my weightloss goal I was super proud of myself, but I knew that I still had a lot of improvement to my physique! (Mainly my legs) I seriously looked like I could slide right off a toilet seat 😅. There’s no secrets, magic pills, or short cuts to getting bigger legs. You just have to put in the work! I don’t load on crazy weight or spend 3 hours killing myself, well not anymore 😂. I focus on mind to muscle connection, feel the contraction, and use proper form to get the most out of every rep of every set for each exercise! So, if you want to try something new for your next leg day here’s my go to: . . 1. Controlled leg extensions: 4x20 2. Barbell squats: 2x10 warm-up, 5x8 65-75% max weight 3. Smith machine front squat: 4x8 4. Smith machine split squat 4x8 each leg 5. Barbell SLDL: 4x20 6. Leg press: 4x20 superset w/ calf raises 4x20 . . -before every leg day I believe that it is crucial to include warm up stretches for atleast 10 minutes before starting your workout. Possibly even 10 minutes of light cardio just to warm up your legs and increase blood flow through your body! I finally did it! 7 years ago I stopped powerlifting when I tore my meniscus. My best squat was 200kg at that time - that was over the European record. 3 years ago I did my first squats since then, starting with 50kg and lots of pain. My only goal for legs has been to do 200kg just once again. After many tries over the last 1,5 years, I finally did it last night! Twice! 😊 I’m beyond elated right now. Eat your greens, do your squats and don’t let boys be mean to you.... But what if you don’t know how to squat? Then the Wildcat is here to help! After posting my Mountain Climbers How To video last week I asked you guys if there were any other exercises you’d like me to demo - and squats got several votes - ask and you shall receive! In the first two clips you’ll see effective squat technique from the front and side. My chest is lifted, my upper neck and back are relaxed, my weight is primarily in my heels, my knees track over my 3rd toe as I descend, and I drop my bum just below the back of my knees. Keeping this form means I work my glutes (as well as utilise their power), quads, hamstrings and core, but that I don’t overuse any of these and create tightness and imbalances. In the next few clips you’ll see some of the common squat mistakes I witness most often: 1️⃣ Chest leaning forward on the way down - this places too much pressure on the lower back and could be an injury risk when weight is added 2️⃣ Bending at the knees first (as opposed to pushing hips back first) - this places a lot of pressure on the knees and also means the quads work way more than the glutes 3️⃣ Putting weight in the front of the foot and/or lifting the heels. Those of you who do do this I kinda salute you as I was struggling to keep my balance with my heels lifted as I squat 🙊 Keeping the heels off the ground at any point during the squat again means it is almost impossible to recruit the glutes and hamstrings into the squat movement pattern - and it also creates ankle instability which again could lead to injury 4️⃣ Knees coming inwards - this can be a sign of muscle tightness elsewhere, or lack of ankle mobility, so make sure to stretch your adductors and abductors if you notice your knees involuntarily caving in as you squat, or work on improving your range of ankle flexibility. Over time this movement could result in damage to the knees, so it’s important to nip it in the bud. Were these tips, and potential pitfalls with squats helpful?
