Have you been sitting too much the last few days? 🐇 Tag someone who sits all the time! This awesome lower back extension exercise can be done on a couch, bed, bench, etc. If you are like me and just sat for 24 hours on a plane, in the airport, and in Ubers, then you are really going to love this exercise. Spend 1-5 minutes actively arching your back over the curvature of whatever object you find. . . Excessive sitting (common in our society) can often result in a straightening or reversal of the curvature of the lower back. This straightening of the lower back can then result in disc injuries, herniations, sciatica or general “tightness.” The purpose of this exercise is to help improve the curvature of the lower back by actively arching the spine. Notice that while I am lying over the bench, I am also doing pelvic tilts (anterior and posterior). Actively tilting the pelvis in this position improves blood flow to the the areas and allows the muscles in the lower back and pelvis to lengthen and stretch more easily. . . Using an object with a sharp curvature like the end of this bench will help you to curve individual vertebrae. Using the edge of the bed will have a much softer curvature and will curve all of the vertebrae together… this is much more gentle on the back. If you find that your back is VERY tender to arch, then start with the edge of the bed or couch and then progress to something more firm like the bench. . . Why you DONT stretch the Rhomboids 🛑⠀ ...⠀ For those of you who work for a living, or work from home for a living, or drive for a living, or exist in this reality... this post is for you haha 😂⠀ ...⠀ Everybody has bad posture, not literally but almost everybody. People listen to that and disregard it and say I have been like that my whole life. Those are the same people that come to a PT and say I don’t know why but I have all this tension in my shoulders and pain in my neck. “It just came on out of nowhere” 🤦🏻♂⠀ ...⠀ It did NOT come on out of nowhere. It came on from the posture you sit in when texting, driving, reading, working, eating, etc. You are probably in that posture right now!!! Hunching forward and rounding the shoulders cause the rhomboids to be on tension, since they are located between the shoulders. ↔⠀ ...⠀ Most people are under the impression if it’s painful or in spasm you should stretch it. BUT if a muscle is always on stretch your doing more harm than good by stretching it. You need to strengthen your rhomboids (and low traps) and pull your shoulders into proper posture if you want the pain to dissipate. 👌🏻⠀ ...⠀ Here is my disclaimer. If it took you 5, 10, 30 years to get into this posture and pain it won’t take 3 rehab sessions to get out of it. Anoche fuimos en familia a celebrar el cumpleaños de mi mamá 🎂 🎁. Elegimos el restaurante “Arrocería las Viandas” en Alaquàs. La verdad es que siempre salimos llenos y muy contentos 🤤😍. Para el centro pedimos: pan con alioli y tomate, calamares, croquetas de cecina y croquetas de chipirones con mermelada de pimientos y de cebolla. Para compartir entre Fabio y yo: solomillo con foie y carrillada 😍. Las carnes estaban espectaculares. . . De postre: coulant de chocolate belga y naranja con helado + tarta de queso y mango 🤤. . . Para beber: vino 🍷 “Enrique Mendoza”. . . Definitivamente este restaurante sigue entre mis favoritos ♥️

The things we put ourselves through just to feel a little better. Well it wasn't the most pleasent experience. Kinda like getting water up your nose when swimming. I get why they say make sure the temperature is right though. I can imagine too hot or too cold would make it worse. It's made it easier for me to breathe and released the horrible pressure I have had for weeks. Going to do it several times a day at first and see if it eases the symptoms. The one I purchased was good as it has a valve at the bottom of the bottle. This then gives a steady stream of water. I can imagine the ones where you squeeze the bottle would be awkward. **CLIENT UPDATE** For any of you who have been following young Ross’s story on his battle with scoliosis may know that most recently he received some great news on being declared low risk for spinal surgery and he is now no longer needs to wear a back brace 23 hours a day. Since then Ross has went from strength to strength both in cardiovascular fitness with his great achievements on the rower and now his straight bar deadlift. Not only is he deadlift his bodyweight for 7 reps with good technique he reminded me himself that merely a year ago he struggled to deadlift the trap bar with two wooden plates I honestly can’t say this enough how proud I am of this young man and his achievements both within his personal fitness and his education.
