IF YOU DON'T TRY, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW! . . I first tried Svarga Dvijasana or the Bird Of Paradise pose in June 2017, as a part of a yoga challenge that I had participated in. The bind came easy to me but the moment I lifted my leg, I fell. That went on for 15 mins. I just couldn't lift & balance, not even for a milisec. Sweaty & tired, I was about to give up when V asked me to give it one last try... And I did! This time I managed to lift enough, hold for long enough to get this pic 😍 I was elated 💃💃💃 . . I didn't see the problems in the posture then (buckled up knee of the standing leg, torso moving laterally rather than vertically, core not engaged, to name just a few). Honestly it didn't matter. Neither does it now 😊 because if I didn't try then, for the fear of failing, I would never have known that it wasn't impossible... And that with practice, I'll get better. . . Progress pics are just reminders to the child in me... that I've tried things that seemed impossible, I've worked hard & I've come far... Here's a candy for my efforts 😄 And that's exactly what I want you to take away from this post - don't stop yourself for the fear of failure; give everything a try! And then keep working hard. Nothing is impossible. Practice and ALL is coming ❤️🙏 . . Are your hips strong enough for daily activities?? Weak glutes can result in poor hip stability. This in turn can lead to issues such as knee and foot pain, hip bursitis, pelvic joint pain and lower back pain. Women often have weaker glutes than men- due to our differences in anatomy and biomechanics. For women, pregnancy, post natal and post menopausal stages seem to have the most issues with hip weakness. So here’s a simple test! Can you stand on one leg well? And by well, I mean: * No big shift of the trunk or hips * no twist of the hips * No dropping of one hip * No rolling in of the foot, knee or thigh * No leaning over * No folding at the hip Try it now, looking in a mirror. If you struggle, chances are that you have poor #glutes and/or tight hip flexors and quads. Working on #glutestrengthening and hip flexor and #quadsstretch is super important to keep you moving well and prevent lower body issues.
