And, even if your body is screaming out for a plateful of sprouts covered in chocolate sauce for breakfast, nutrition is not something to be overlooked when pregnant. Here are some of the important nutrient and vitamins to incorporate into your diet, and where to find them:⠀ .⠀ 🥦 Folic acid: green leafy vegetables, lentils and avocado are good sources⠀ .⠀ 🥦 Omega 3 (essential to brain development): oily fish and flax, chia seeds and walnuts if you are vegan⠀ .⠀ 🥦 Calcium: dairy produce but also green leafy veg and sesame seeds. Learning to love yourself takes time. My God does it take time! When you’ve been hating yourself for years and beating yourself up every time you look in the mirror, it feels like that self-hate is a part of you. And you have to reach inside and pull it out like a weed. You have to forgive yourself for all the years you spent at war with your own body. You have to rewrite the words you say to yourself. You have to learn a whole new language of peace and compassion and kindness. You have to let yourself break down. Fall apart. Crack open. Without wasting a moment trying to hold yourself together. And then you have to build yourself back up again. You have to rebuild yourself by noticing the little things that make your heart flutter. That make you feel alive. And then you have to respect yourself enough to make time for those things in your life. You have to do the things that you truly want to do. The things that you haven’t had time for because you’ve been too busy criticising yourself and feeling unworthy. Too busy tearing yourself to shreds. Wanting to look like someone else. Wanting to be someone else. Now it’s time to rise from the self-criticism and self-hate. To be kind to yourself. To practise peace with yourself. To allow yourself to be exactly who you are. To slowly, softly, fall in love with yourself. With your life. With the world ✨ . . . Some general safety tips for practicing Yoga while growing a human. 💛🤰🙏 ❣Get the all clear from your G.P or physio. If you are feeling good and healthy in your pregnancy, you should be fine to continue Yoga or start a gentle prenatal class. ❣If you are joining a regular Yoga class, tell your teacher that you are pregnant. ❣Do not go to a Hot Yoga class and never hold your breath during class. ❣Always make space for your baby, especially in 2nd/3rd trimester. Your instincts will tell you anyway but just dont squash your tiny little baby. ❣Avoid poses lying on your belly, no more cobra,locust,now, crocodile for a while. Instead you can do Cow pose, Puppy pose, Childs pose. Have a bolster/block or cushion to lean on if you need. ❣Avoid deep twists or closed twists . That's where your baby lives now. Open twists are fine. Keep space for your baby. ❣Supine ( lying down) poses will probably feel fine in 1st trimester. Maybe more uncomfortable in 2nd and 3rd. Listen to your body. Use a bolster to prop you up slightly if needed. ❣Lye on your left side for Savasana. practice balancing poses near a wall, your centre of gravity will have changed so you may feel more wobbly than before. ❣Avoid deep backbends, they may place a strain on the midline of your abdominal muscles, which can lead to a condition called diastasis recti. This is the separation of the left and right rectus abdominus and may slow down core recovery after birth and lead to back pain, hip pain and hernias. Practice camel or cow instead, non- weight bearing backbends. ❣Avoid any supine poses or strength drills core sit up style exercises. ❣Be careful not to overstretch. In pregnancy, a hormone called Relaxin is released to prepare our body for birth. Be careful not to overstretch the groin area which can cause injury or long-term joint instability, especially in asanas like bound angle/ butterfly. ❣In 3rd trimester, slow it right down. Focus more on meditation, affirmations, hypnobirthing and relaxation. ❣ Be safe and be kind to your body and your growing baby. 🙏🤰💛

We have another Yoga baby!! Baby Elon arrived early for Lauren (36+4). Elon ententered the world last Saturday night weighing 3.6kg. (Good thing he didn’t wait another month ☺️) Lauren combined hypnobirthing with pregnancy yoga and gentle yoga at @embracelife_northlakes to support herself through her pregnancy and yoga and was able to focus on her breath even with a few complications. This amazing Mumma surprised the midwives that she was able to have a natural birth with only gas and air! ~ 🌟~Go Lauren~🌟 Elon and Lauren are now home after nearly a week in special care. "Words written by my husband:⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Hayley asked me to write something about her postpartum body.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I figured it’d be easy but then I started thinking, what is there to even write about?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Sure, things look and feel slightly different--but in the grand scheme of things, nothing changed.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ The reasons I fell in love with her had nothing to do with any of the body parts affected by her postpartum.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ She still has the same beautiful smile, determined mind, banging body, and strong work ethic as the girl I fell in love with over 15 years ago.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ She still has the same sense of humor.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ She still smells great and tastes great too.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Her postpartum body does look and feel slightly different, but why should that be a factor in my life at all?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ The soft pillowy skin around her belly button held my three best friends for 18 months.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ The marks show the strength it took to carry the weight of two beautiful girls that will be raised by this bad ass mom.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Nothing has changed or altered my love for my wife.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I get praised for being a ‘great husband’, but that’s nonsense.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I’m literally doing the bare minimum by loving my wife for who she is, “imperfections” and all. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Imperfections make the world fun.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ If everything was Barbie doll perfect, wouldn’t we all get bored?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ How else would we show what life has put us through?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ So whether it’s regrettable tattoos, scars, surgeries, dumb facial hair, or a postpartum tummy, honestly...who gives a shit?⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Be good to each other. Learn from mistakes-yours and others. Help those in need and let’s stop dwelling on who looks like what.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ My wife isn’t perfect and that’s what makes me love her.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ That’s why you are all reading this. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ If she was perfect, not a one of you would be able to relate to her. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ And to the husbands out there that don’t do their fair share of diaper duty, cooking, cleaning, and telling your wife how beautiful she is—step up your game bro.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ You’re a team.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ So yeah, I was supposed to write about a belly...but honestly, it affects me so little I rambled about everything else”.
