There is no accomplishment besides that which is the choice to practice. To observe a physically challenging position does not equate to being “better.” To practice, in whatever capacity, is always enough and will lead to path of being the best version of ourselves. _____🌈Drop Backs🌈_____ The secret in this movement is really in keeping your weight on your legs. As simple as that. Remember that in order to fold yourself backwards you have to stretch and tone your front body. So it’s not really about “dropping” it’s more about lifting and moving slowly down. Steps I would recommend: 1. take good distance between your feet, more than pelvis width. Make sure to keep them as parallel as possible when you start (they will open a bit as you go) 2. Start with the palms in front of your chest and think about pushing or lifting your chest towards your palms. 3. Reach up with the chest to the max before you take the head back. Eventually you will have to take your head back to increase the arch. Think about stretching the front part of the neck (taking the chin as far as you can from the chest) 4. Keep the legs straight (for max stretch of your hip flexors) and move down with your head only pushing your chest towards the palms all the time 5. When you see the floor start moving your palms back until you are able to stretch your arms. Your weight is still on your legs in this point (like in the photo above). Don’t collapse. Even if you need to go a bit higher it’s better keeping the weight on your legs and build the strength with the time. From this point on you just move down until you can place your palms on the ground. Take your time and progress wisely. Think about this movement as a wave 🌊 It should feel good. If it doesn’t it means you have to step back and keep it higher for a period of time. Hope this helped a bit. How spontaneous are you? Does your heart leap and truly go with the flow? Are you free spirited ! I realize that I tend to be generally more cautious as I determine every action with its consequence unfolding like a dramatic story in the chambers of the mind😂. However these past few days in Montenegro encouraged me to be more spontaneous and playful 💕 With the patient encouragement of @ashvinder_kaur and @dblexander , I managed to swim in the dark waters at 2am under a full moon starlit sky- something that I have never ventured to do! So I ask the question- how freely do we all live and love? How spontaneous can we be to live life a little! Of course most of us organized folks will find this quite difficult and challenging. I realize everyday that it can actually be a lot of fun, not to plan, not to over think of every move, not to build high walls! Given that every choice comes with consequences, here’s to living life to the fullest and making wiser choices and having a little spark of unexpected joy on the way. What about you? This juicy side opener feels so good after feeding, rocking, holding baby all day everyday. Of course, I'm still modifying and taking it slow, not forcing my body into any shape even if I used to be able to do it before. Still just as effective, still feels just as amazing. ⠀ ⠀ Give side angle pose a try: 1. Take a wide warrior 2 stance. 2. Gently rest your front forearm on your thigh, or reach the palm down to the floor or a block. 3. Reach the top arm high creating a straight line from your back foot to your top fingers. Feel the length of your side and allow your breath to flow there. 4. Try not to let your chest cave in. Instead open your heart and encourage your shoulders to align. ⠀ Tip: if you have your form on your thigh try not to dump all of your weight on to that thigh. This weeks full moon was in Aquarius. There’s no such thing as a “typical” full moon in Aquarius but this one was unusual even by the standards of this most eccentric sign.
