Healing takes time. Sometimes a lifetime, as things are always coming up. Have patience with yourself, especially if you are just starting you journey of turning inward. Take it one day at a time, one breath at a time. It all doesn’t have to come right now. One day you will sink into trust. It has always been okay, it will always be okay. One day you will realize that you can have both at the same time. You can be both healing and growing. You can have pain and still have fun. You can be turning inward and also creating connections. I’ve been having a hard time recently remembering that my worth is not based on likes and engagement on Instagram. I often feel like I don’t offer enough on my page. That it’s just a collage of pretty pictures when I should be creating more tools, tutorials, resources. I’m not sure where my page goes from here. I want to keep sharing, but the pressure to post things that will get the highest amount of engagement isn’t a mindset I want to have anymore. I am covered in skin. No one gets to come in. Pull me out from inside. I am folded and unfolded and unfolding. . Pull me out from inside. I am ready, I am ready, I am ready, I am fine. . | Adam Duritz | . . This practice is doing its work on me. I’ve recently been given some new challenging postures that are pushing my buttons. I’m simultaneously feeling raw, emotional, joyous, strong, incapable, friendly, withdrawn. . These asanas are difficult for a reason. They act as a mirror to reveal our conditioned patterns of behavior, and allow us to hopefully break out of these patterns. . One pattern that I’m challenging at the moment is my habit of trying to solve things on my own. I was always shy, soft spoken. Be it academics or personal life, I preferred to dive deep into my own mind rather than reach out for help from others. While I’ve always known this wasn’t ideal, I never felt the push to break out of this pattern. . Now, with yoga, I’m finding that I seek the help of others very readily. I ask my teachers for help and guidance, and speak to fellow students about their journeys. This is a path I wouldn’t want to travel alone. I’m coming out of my shell more, and this is seeping over into my work and personal life. All is coming 😊

“Help!” “I left it too late to book and now my favourite class is full, what do I do?!” 😭 Ahh, the worst feeling right? You have a favourite timeslot or favourite teacher and you’re psyched for yoga but oh no, it’s full! Pretty common, especially on the weekends 😬 What can you do when the class you want is FULL? 1. Jump on the Waitlist! This gives us a really great idea of class demand AND it means you will be notified when a place becomes available. 2. Book ahead for next week ✌🏼 3. Keep an eye on your emails for notification of a space 4. Consider wandering over to our sister studio and trying a new class or teacher! It might be a little bit further, but you’ll get your yoga fix AND you can use the same membership or pass at both locations! 5. Be kind to those on the Waitlist, and cancel your place if you can’t attend. On that note: Slow Jamz & Soul Train at Midland this afternoon are VERY full today, with a long Waitlist, but our Edgewater studio is double the size, so maybe take a trip north for 90 delicious minutes of Soul Train Yin with Georgia at 4.30pm 🙏🏼

“Throughout high school, I worked out like crazy. I was always trying to seek approval based on how I looked. If I didn’t sweat one day, I felt like I failed because my looks meant everything to me. Modo taught me how to love myself from the inside––something I had never done before. My relationship with myself and with others started changing for the better and I started embracing whatever life would throw at me. After a few years of practicing, I took the Modo Yoga Teacher Training in LA to keep learning and growing. It was an incredible experience but it was also something that would someday literally save my life. On May 9, 2018, I was set on fire during a gas explosion when a friend tried to ignite a fire lantern. 35% of my body burned to a 3rd degree. When it happened, I ran frantically in panic. In a split second, my body had been engulfed in flames. As the fire started spreading up my arms to my head, I raised my arms to protect my face, took three slow breaths, and then held it until I heard the fire sizzle out. I kept telling myself to stay calm, to focus on my breathing and to trust the universe. I think my ability to keep calm amidst chaos saved me. I woke up a month later from my coma. The pain was torture. My 24 year old body, that I had worked so hard for was destroyed. I couldn’t look at myself without crying. I had to learn how to walk, eat and drink again. But I heard Ezmy’s voice from MYTT saying “just trust your journey.” So I chose patience. I chose to shift my perspective to appreciate what I do have instead of focusing on what I lost. The doctors said that yoga was the best thing I could have ever done. My skin and body was so loose and supple that it gave me another chance at life and made the physical and mental experience of healing so much easier. I was released 4 months before the doctors predicted! You never know what life is going to throw at you, but whatever it is, you can overcome it. Change is a part of life and when we can learn to truly embrace it, we start to flow with life rather than fight.
