Picked up and put some things down at @ironsidetraining yesterday💪🏽👊🏽 1st good Deadlifting sesh in a long while. Felt great, but also was tough. Overall strength and especially my grip strength is most definitely not what it was 4-5 months ago, and I had to be really aware to not push myself too much (so I could still walk today). But that’s normal after taking such a long break, Strength will come and go! Planning to add back in some Barbell weight training again, not with a specific strength or weight goal in mind but because it’s FUN, and it makes me feel STRONG and POWERFUL, mentally and physically!💪🏽💪🏽 #StrongWomen #HandfulActivewear @handfulbra #IronsideTraining

I love watching my first powerlifting meet videos. It's a reminder of how far I've come since then, especially when I have moments where I don't feel like putting 100% into improving my lifts for reasons. _ First video is my missed 2nd attempt of 99lb. I remember the exact feeling right before I made the attempt. I was nervous and anxious to get through it since bench was my weakest of the three lifts. I had to tell myself that I can't let the weight scare me when my goal is to progress. So that meant I needed to change my mentality and #ATTACCC, hence the 2nd video where I got the lift. It's really easy to psych yourself out in situations where you know you have it in you. All it takes is a bit of self-confidence that whatever weight that's on the bar is going to fuckin' move up. Shoutout to @deanrilla for letting me borrow his wrist wraps that day! Nowadays, I've been making steady progress with bench and I'm SO excited to see where I'll be in a few months. 😎

Just me being me, working out post early short shift with a face of makeup (impressed it stayed on actually...), filming and taking my full rest times in order to get live feedback, pissing off some meatheads by being that girl doing heavy squat sesh in the squat rack while they’re trying to do pull ups... 🤷‍♀️ you do you. Highlights from Saturdays workout: Deadlifts 2x6 @ 202lbs RDLs 3x10 @ 115lbs Lots of accessory work in between and finished it off with Sled pushes with 3 sets @ 125lbs. Then after all of that, I got roped into trying BFR. The burrrrnnn 🔥 - - Another solid workout in the books. 💪 I’ve been focusing on rest & recovery so I can hit it hard next week. So far I’m really enjoying this bodybuilding hybrid program. I still get in my core lifts but am focusing on hypertrophy over strength. Eventually I’ll get to do another peak phase, but since I’m still cutting weight it didn’t make sense to do one now. This makes me so happy!!! I math-ed wrong because I forgot this SSB weighs 65lbs, and reverse lunged 205lbs for 8!!! 😃🤗🤗 a long yolo day today: I worked up to squatting 260lbs for 7, 225lbs for 10 (I started laughing at Chyna midset and lost focus), did some front squats, tried adding weight little by little on the SSB split squat (the reverse lunge), leg pressed on the Happy Baby machine, and did hip abductors between pretty much everything LOL. Just tryna add mass to these legs so I can squat my 2018 goal of 3 plates soon!!! 😩🙌🏽😆🤩

Sometimes, I wish I had more to offer the people who continually like and comment on my posts. I’m not very funny; I’m passively attractive, not stunningly beautiful by society’s standards; I don’t have an awkwardly cute schtick—I’m more goofy than cute and my awkwardness is sometimes embarrassing; and I don’t have much coaching advice to give because I just haven’t been doing this long enough. • I’m just a brown girl who’s pretty good at picking things up and putting them down again, and sometimes I wish there were more women who look like me represented in this sport.
