Hi everyone! 👋🏻 . Since I’ve somehow gained about a thousand followers in the past month (how did that happen?!) and I’m going to be doing LOTS of introductions tonight, how about a quick (okay, a not so quick) post to introduce myself to everyone who has joined me lately!? 🤗 . 1️⃣ My real name is Teresa. My handle is a blend of a childhood nickname and the name my niece and nephew call me, but if YOU call me either of these, I’ll probably just be confused and think you’re talking to someone else 🤷🏼‍♀️ 2️⃣ I’m a 52kg powerlifter. (If this is news to you, I’m a little unsure how we got here, but welcome anyways 💁🏼‍♀️😋). I have dreams far bigger than anything I’ve accomplished so far, and I love grinding through the work to make them come true. 💫 3️⃣ I have grade 2 #Spondylolisthesis I work closely with a Dr of PT (S/O to Nick with @moverightpt 👋🏻 ) who is also a S&C coach. I have worked carefully and diligently for years to build a spine strong enough to lift like I do. It hasn’t been easy, and yes, I still deal with pain almost every day. #itsworthit 4️⃣ I’m an #elementaryscienceteacher , and it’s absolutely my dream job! I truly can’t imagine doing anything else for a living, and at the same time, I love sharing with my kids my passion for powerlifting. Teachers are real people, and there’s nothing stopping us from becoming elite athletes like anyone else 💪🏻 (We just have to be reallllllly good at time management!) 5️⃣ I’m married. 💍 So no sliding into my DMs. It’s weird. Some Romanian deadlifts today. Little by little using weights but I’m being SUPER careful as I get used to my my growing belly and the signals my body gives me. Being pregnant and training is like training whilst recovering from an injury. You can’t start where you left it. I finally bit the bullet and hired a coach to prep me for a powerlifting meet in November. I did this same meet last year and haven’t competed since. I realized after that comp that I needed a coach going forward, not only for programming but also form check and help with mental barriers. I’m so so so excited. Coach Kyle is with @kabuki_virtualcoaching (which shouldn’t be a surprise since I am a diehard @kabukistrengthlab devotee.) • Anyhoo, today was my first day back since I got the plague. After being in the fetal position for 6 days, I doubted my ability to complete this nasty ass workout. But I went for it and lo and behold— I felt amazing. • Remember that often how you’re feeling physically is a manifestation of how you’re feeling emotionally or a story that you’re telling yourself. • Also, you can tell I have really chugged the Kabuki kool-aid because I finally got some @vivobarefoot shoes that were recommended. • Fortunately Coach Kyle programmed every single movement under the sun, so I really got to test them out. Verdict: LOVE them. Highly recommend. Both the shoes AND the coaching. Two excellent investments. Had some fun today- first time back doing sumo deadlifts in almost a month (since Regionals), and it’s not even deadlift day lol. Today on the deadlift bar... hit an easy 375# x3 (10# under my all time best triple 😅). This bar feels different, but easy af lol. Idc what y’all trying to say that it’s not easier 😂🙄. Then 5x7 ascending pause bench @ 170# with the hottest spotter @trashton keeping me safe! Love this place! Let’s go!

Squat day!!! Week 2 day 1 and hit a top set of 231.49 pounds (105kg) for 3 reps. They felt super light today. Squats this heavy have not felt this good in a while. Thank you to @coach.vish for this program because my body is loving it! . . Swapped out my heavy barbell volume sets with @pitsharkstrength squats today too to get some good variation. 270 pounds for 10x4 . . With my new job, I have to become at least somewhat fluent in the Olympic lifts (jerks, snatches and cleans). This new language is foreign to my aspiring power-lifter-ass-self and I find that I’m trying to find exercises that will help get me used to some of the movements and motions of those major lifts. So check out this landmine squat to overhead press variation. I purposefully paused on my toes to over emphasize the power needed to push the bar up like in the Olympic lifts and focus on ankle stability. I’m trying to hit strength, power and stability here. I’m also trying to wake up stabilizers that I probably don’t use as much when I’m power lifting. As always, here’s my last set (2x5).
