@uspapower Monterey County Open was a smashing success. I went 8/9 on my lifts. I got 🔴🔴🔴 on my 325lbs deadlift attempt for hitching. I got a 319lbs squat (🚨21lbs PR🚨), 148lbs bench press (🚨16lbs PR🚨), and a 313 deadlift for a 782lbs total! Not only did I add 37lbs to my total, but I also managed to qualify for drug tested Nationals 2020! I got 1st 🥇 in the deadlift only catergory for the 90kg+ and a surprise 3rd 🥉 in the 90kg+ open raw category (I had some stiff competition). Thank you @ferd_lifts and @anson_lifts for handling me and believing in me today. Thank you @sharshar_lifts for have a front row seat to crazytown and keeping me sane the whole way. I am shit without my @nerds_lift team! Thank you @xraychill for coming to cheer me on. Thank you @squat705 for the brutal programming and your encouragement. My axe has a forever home! Like Mark said, “No other gym can take credit for your win, we’ve done all our training at Body Doc’s”. That’s absolutely true. This is the gym that toughened me up and is making me strong. September 2018, I walked into Body Docs for the first time. Half way thru my deadlift session, dripping in sweat, hard to breathe, so exhausted I could barely finish my set I thought “I am not tough enough to train at this gym”. Right before I left Mr. Johnny walked in and invited me to train with him the following Saturday. Well if you get that type of invitation you learn how to man the up real fast. So, there I was every Saturday morning at 11am ready to learn. During these Saturday morning training sessions Mr. Johnny introduced me to programming my training. Hello world of 5/3/1. This is also how Mark and I got to know each other and would eventually become training partners. The best decision I have made concerning my lil lifter life was getting out of my comfort zone and joining the gym that would change my life forever. I am becoming a powerlifter!!! First video is of me dying. I think I I lost all feeling in my arms and couldn’t finish those negatives but I tried. Dong is evil. 💀 Next vid is a 150 bench with commands on what I consider a “bad day” today. Everything hurts and I wasn’t feeling great but pushed through. Ya know that feeling when you've just been through a crazy stressful few weeks but you come out on the other side because you handled it like a #boss? Why not both in the same day. 🤔 Good thing is that I'm a kind of masochist and I like suffering. 😂 Sumo dl: 142.5 kg 3x2 127.5 kg 3x4 Squats: 125 kg 3x2 115 kg 3x3 Last sets are at low rpe (6-6.5) and ironically, the last squat set is the most comfortable.
