Let’s realise that some of the issues that we deal with people most women do not like to open up about and talk about on public these could be, pelvic floor pain, incontinence issues, painful stitches, hair loss, breast pain, painful sex, haemorrhoids, stretch marks....just to name a few. WHAT IS PROLAPSE? . Over in the FitRight Members group this month, we will focus on #prolapse 💜 So... what is it exactly? . Our pelvic organs (bladder, uterus & bowel) are supported by a hammock of connective tissue & muscles. . If this support system isn’t working as it should, it can lead to one or more of these organs descending into the vagina, which is called a ‘vaginal prolapse’. . A prolapse can be categorized into different types – a front/anterior wall prolapse, which is the bladder or urethra coming down, a back/posterior wall prolapse, which is the rectum or small bowel coming down, or a uterine prolapse, which is the womb dropping down. . Prolapses can also be divided into ‘stages’, depending on how far down the lowest part descends when you do a maximal downward strain: 1️⃣A stage 1 prolapse means that the lowest part of the wall/organ is still more than 1cm inside the vagina 2️⃣A stage 2 means that the lowest part of the wall/organ is between 1cm inside and 1cm outside the vaginal opening. This stage of prolapse, when the organ descends to the opening, is often when women become aware of their prolapse for the first time. 3️⃣A stage 3 means that the lowest part of the wall/organ is more than 1cm outside the vaginal opening 4️⃣A stage 4 means that essentially the whole organ has come outside the body – this is relatively rare. . 🤷🏻‍♀️How do I know if I have a Vaginal Prolapse? . The symptoms of a vaginal prolapse are different in everyone, & it’s important to note that sometimes people with mild to moderate prolapses don’t have any symptoms. . The most common symptoms are: 👉🏻A bulging sensation (or being able to see a bulge) or a feeling of ‘something being there’ in the vagina . 👉🏻A feeling of not being able to completely empty the bladder or bowel . 👉🏻Lower back or lower abdominal ‘dragging’ pain . Postnatal Pilates C-section recovery 💪🏽 This morning was my first postpartum Pilates session with @erikabloompilates. The way she was adjusting me felt SO good. I had tears rolling down my cheeks 😭, my body hadn’t felt that type of physical release since pre-pregnancy. Erika massaged my C section scar tissue, she taught me how to engage my core and how to breath again. I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to recognise those feelings and to be honest I was really struggling as I couldn’t feel anything 😩, but I’m so glad I went and I’m sure in time it will all come back again. But for now, it’s slow and steady for the next 6 months — I’m getting there 😜. “Your only limit is your mind.” It’s definitely not always easy to keep working towards my goal but it is always worth it. Traveling, life with a newborn, holidays and family time. Those are all things I could have used as excuses this morning to talk myself out of my workout but I didn’t. I chose to put myself first and keep working towards my goal because those excuses won’t get me there but consistency and hard work will. DECIDE you’re worth it and then stick to that. It’s okay to fall off the course a little but get back on track and keep crushing your goals 👊🏻

As you drive up squeezing your glutes, exhale as you draw your belly in and upwards. This activates the TVA core muscles aka your muscular 'corset'! Inhale to return butt to heels. Keep your back & head straight and look forward. Aim for 10-20 reps x 3 sets. 👍🏻 . Suitable and effective for both pre & post natals however ensure you aren’t allowing the belly muscles to dome outwards. You should stop if you feel any pain during the movement.❗️ . ✨Mat Pilates ✨ is not my go to form of Pilates because the reformer has my ❤️ but that does not mean it isn’t challenging. And I am learning that more and more as it is the most readily available form of Pilates to me right now. • • • The other day I tried a jackknife for the first time postpartum and I was very humbled as my belly shook and I had a very hard time stabilizing my pelvis. My lower abs just don’t exist at the moment or at least they are very hard to find 😂 • • • Inversion is a safe and challenging way to work your core postpartum but I don’t recommend this series prenatal or even newly postpartum.
