Sensory-Motor Hierarchy for Reinforcing Movement/ Skill with Advanced Athletes: • The obvious difference here from my last post is the greater duration of time spent training at higher levels of complexity, and less time revisiting the fundamentals of each movement or skill. • In the videos I have demonstrated some of the possible exercises I might combine to reinforce proper loading and landing mechanics. Notice that there are two exercises classified at “dynamic” for an advanced athlete. • Again, this model can be applied in any facet of performance based on the training age and level of play for each individual athlete. The shape of the pyramid changes to meet the need.

Since I keep going on about learning outside your own sport and having a broad field of vision I thought it would be good to ask @benthebounce to answer some questions and introduce my followers to someone new who is well worth a follow What do you do and what's your sporting background? Olympic Bobsleigh Athlete, Performance coach - speed and S&C. Sprinted at an international level in the past, junior international in long jump. Rugby and Football at regional level as a youth. What or who got you into it? Saw an advertisement for a UK sport talent ID trial in 2012. Even though I thought I would be too small for Bobsleigh the speed and power tests looked fun! So I entered and then got invited to push trials. What was your first competition? Europa Cup 2-man race in Igls, Austria Nov 2012 What is your proudest achievement? Competing at my first Olympics in Sochi 2014 and setting a track record and world speed record in Whistler, Canada in 2017. Who’s your favourite athlete past/present? @linford_christie Is there anything you wish you knew earlier as a coach or athlete? I was treated in the Olympic association rehabilitation unit in 2014. I learnt so much about my injuries and various weakenesses while I was there. The phrase that stuck with me was 'your chassis isn't strong enough to handle your genetic potential'. That mantra has encouraged me not to neglect injury prevention and core work ever since. Have you got a go to book or person to reference? I have been lucky enough to have trained under some great coaches during my career so I constantly liaise with them. For S&C I like the work of Verkhoshanksky, Bondarchuk, Cal Dietz and Christian Thibaudeau. Then usually refer back to the training methodology of Charlie Francis and Dan Pfaff, and look at the bigger picture. Any sponsors/people to thank?
