LOW ABDOMINALS • • With one red and one blue spring, I was able to focus on flexing my spine at the naval. • • Often times when doing roll down or roll up, we tend to over flex the upper back neglecting flexion of the spine at the lower back. This set up, using the bar, allowed me to find my lats and engage the low abs. • • When doing is set up, make sure to reach the bar to the ceiling and broaden your upper back allowing your lats to flare out which opens the lower back creating more mobility of the lumbar spine. • • #MacGyverPilates #PilatesMacGyver #pilatespalmsprings #stretch #pilates #palmsprings #mendopilates #pilatesmen

Here is an excellent variation of reverse of abdominals. This one takes a lot of control to stabilize the carriage. This one is a great low back stretch. With two red springs and the strap on my thigh, it really helped to traction my pelvis away from my rib cage. It gave me a wonderful stretch without compressing my opposite side. Head, neck shoulder organization is paramount. Classes worked on isolating extension in the upper back as well as maintaining core control. The biggest challenge in a swan, is hyperextension of the cervical and lumbar spine.
