Mobility vs. flexibility which is this video demonstrating? In short, the biggest difference between #mobility and #flexibility is that in order to move a muscle through its range of motion with control (mobility), you need #strength 💪🏽 I have had this conversation with prospective reluctant clientele that hold stereotypes about what Pilates is and who it’s for. “Oh, Pilates, I can’t do that - I’m not flexible” or “Cool, you teach Pilates, yea, I should stretch more.” or my ‘favorite’ 😤 “I’ll tell my wife”. We have all heard these- so how do we educate the specific point regarding flexibility vs. the crucial benefits of mobility? 📖 Flexibility: refers to the range of motion of a joint or a series of joints that are influenced by muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bony structures. 📖 Mobility: is our ability to take our body through a range of motion, before being restricted, with control. Mobility is having strength within your flexibility. #Pilates lengthens and STRENGTHENS muscle fibers to increase range of motion, build tendon strength, stabilize joints, enhance muscle endurance and create a muscular balance for proper biomechanics! Not to mention increase kinesthetic and proprioceptive awareness and core #strength - okay, now I’m getting off topic! We don’t all need crazy flexibility, but we ALL need proper mobility! There is one gal I forgot to mention...please forgive me.... Lisa Alamar has been a mentor, guide and "big sister' to me throughout the process of opening the studio. We reconnected when Claire passed away after over 30 years! Lisa is an incredible healer (working on my old dance injury) and she came to the studio and did a space clearing that was beautiful...to me it felt like a blessing. Lisa is the gal who made the beautiful lei I was wearing. I am so thankful to have Lisa Alamar in my life. What a good burn, on 1 blue 💙 spring. Adding the heal raises to a lunge and mixing it up with a curtsy lunge adding that back leg into the mix. 🔥 P.S. А пилатес изобрел в 20-х годах прошлого века немец Джозеф Пилатес, страдавший от астмы и рахита. Это его изобретение оказалось столь эффективным, что Джо смог стать боксером, гимнастром, дайвером, и вообще, прожил полноценную и насыщенную жизнь. ⠀ 2. Во время выполнения упражнений пилатеса задействовано все тело. Но это не значит, что он прорабатывает все мышцы. Наиболее заметную пользу от пилатеса получат мышцы корпуса – пресс и спина. Эта гимнастика для них и сконстрирована. ⠀ 3. Это не гимнастика для похудения. Зато пилатес укрепляет мышцы, развивает гибкость, исправляет осанку, учит правильно дышать, облегчает боль, снимает мышечное напряжение... ⠀ 4. Но вот без чего в пилатесе не обойтись – это без метода. Девиз этой гимнастики таков: «Важно качество, а не количество». Meet our new amazing Instructor! Excited to have her at Body Redefined Pilates....her knowledge and experience brings so much to the studio and our clients. Abigail Sanchez is a bilingual sport psychologist and former gymnast for the national Mexican team. Abigail has worked as a PE teacher, gymnastics coach, and psychologist. After years of being an elite level gymnast Abigail has dealt with injuries and found Pilates to help her deal with her injuries and also rebuild her power, strength, flexibility and control. Abigail moved to California in 2018 and began working at Body Redefined Pilates.  She attends CPE seminars and classes to continue to grow and develop as an instructor and in her own Pilates practice. Abigail loves the idea of sharing her knowledge with others to help find benefits using Pilates on a daily basis.
