Then I turn the head brick down and place my palms on either side, roll my triceps in and extend them to my elbows. The psoas is part of hip flexion, but it has a deeper role in our sense of well-being because it’s intimately entwined with our nervous system. Paryankasana, couch pose. A continuation of Supta Virasana, reclining hero. • Maybe I could do a whole series on poses which, in English, hinted at a kind of comfort and ease, and then in actuality were, uh, a little less supported 😬😅🤭 • Chair pose, Couch pose, Vishnu's Couch pose... I'm looking at you!! • To be fair: Iyengar says in Light on Yoga that the body "resembles a couch, hence the name"... 😂 So he's not making a grand claim about comfort 😆 • And yes: I know—Yoga is not about comfort per se. It's darker and more complex than that. • But #paryankasana is one of those poses that feels better in my body than one might imagine. It does yield a real sense of ease in the face of difficulty. It has a containment and a quality of withdrawal from the outer world which is lovely. There is something freeing about the chest being this expansive, and the head being subdued and settled. • I am so wary of posting āsana photos at present, and this one is no exception. It shows only a moment in time. It shows a partial view of one formation of the body. • It doesn't really tell you, or tell me, what I have been working on all these long lonely months where the body reacts unexpectedly and where I don't know how to manage my spine. These questions are trickier. They aren't photographable. • How about these words by #susansontag—they are super strong. "Needing to have reality confirmed and experience enhanced by photographs is an aesthetic consumerism to which everyone is now addicted. Industrial societies turn their citizens into image-junkies; it is the most irresistible form of mental pollution." • I participate in this economy, I place images into it, I view images within it. • Life is complex. Not everything is seen. And not everything seen is understood, either. #요가디피카 #일일디피카 #34일차 #숩타비라아사나 #SuptaVirasana #파리얀카아사나 #Paryankasana 2019.10.28.월 41.숩타비라아사나 (Supta Virasana) -숩타는 눕는다는 뜻이다. 비라아사나로 앉아 등을 마루에 대고 팔을 머리위로 쭉 뻗는다. -손은 머리 위로 쭉 뻗을 수도 있고, 넓적다리 옆에 둘 수도 있다. 손을 머리 위로 뻗을 때는 어깨뼈가 마루에서 떨어지지 않도록 한다. 초보자는 무릎을 붙이지 않아도 된다. 효과 -복부 기관과 골반부를 잡아당겨 준다. 다리가 아픈 사람은 10~15분간 유지하면 편안해진다. 42.파리얀카아사나 (Paryankasana) -파리얀카는 침대, 침상, 소파란 뜻. 숩타비라 아사나의 연속 육체가 소파 모양을 닮아서 그렇게 이름 지어졌다. -목과 가슴을 들어 아치형을 만들고 머리의 중심만 마루에 닿게 한다. 팔을 구부려 오른손으로 왼쪽 팔꿈치 윗부분을 잡고 왼손으로 오른쪽 팔꿈치 윗부분을 잡는다. 포개진 팔은 머리 위의 마루에 놓는다. 고르게 호흡 하며 1분정도 유지. 효과 -맏스야아사나와 파리얀카아사나처럼 등 부위는 완전히 신장되므로 폐는 잘 펼쳐진다. 목 근육도 신장되어 갑상선과 부갑상선은 자극받아 기능이 좋아진다. 파리얀카아사는 식후에 바로 할 수 없다. . . #요가강사 #하타요가 #요가 #요가하는순주 #수련일기
