Paryankasana transformation Tuesday! I have grown in so many ways since that first image 2 years ago. There is never perfection in yoga, strength isn’t just physical, and there is always something to work on, whether it’s a pose or yourself. - Note* If you do not feel comfortable in Kapotasana then this pose should only be practiced with props and assistance. The main difference in this progression has to be my shoulders and upper back 💪 I always thought backbends were about back flexibility only, but I was wrong. It takes a lot of shoulder opening and hip opening as well. If you have tight quads you might not feel the hips sit on heels all the way. If you have tight shoulders then bringing the elbows down and reaching for the toes can be impossible. But practice, practice, practice. Even if I never got the full pose, I definitely felt the progress either way 🙏 The other thing I learned is it takes a lot of active strength in most flexibility poses. Without strength, the back is just noodling around and the bones, tendons and ligaments are not protected! With gaining strength also means losing some flexibility, so it’s like double the work to find that balance every time 🙈 - I know the first one is already quite bendy, but this is MY progress - everyone has progress and transformations. Maybe next time I post this Paryankasana progress, my hands will be fully wrapped around my heels… or maybe not! And that’s ok 🙃💕 - #transformationtuesday #progress #paryankasana #backbend

También la oportunidad que nos brinda para extender y soltar la columna torácica. To work on #paryankasana use a bolster. Push the elbow down to grin the middle back and coil the chest. Hard part is keep the grip as you take the arms overhead. Make sure the forearms can press into something to stimulate the grip of the middle back. I mostly like to focus on strengthening the entire core and my arms when I practice alone since I need that more than flexibility. But every now and then I like to pretend I was in the circus 🎪 Although I was born flexible, I see major improvements in my back bends. There is much more control in the bend rather than letting my body just flop around like a cooked noodle. Of all the Asanas I practice when studying Yoga in Rishikesh, Paryankasa is by far the one we practice the most. Everyday for 3, 5 or 10 minutes. Sometimes twice. It took me years to get here and be here with a certain level of ease. And to be trully and fully open hearted. The effects are beyond physical. Besides the expansion of chest and lungs and deep strech of the lower abdomen, I find myself able to release fearful emotions by offering my heart up to the sky and trusting the guidance of my deep breaths. Paryanka’ means bed, couch or sofa. The body resembles a couch and hence the name Couch Pose. I used to be able to sit my butt fully down in this pose, but the strength I built in my back and shoulders is much more important than how flexible I can be 🥰 Progress can come in all forms. For me I see more progress in lessoning my bend and building that space with strength. Also mentally letting go of perfection and how I can capture the deepest version of this pose. 3 years ago I probably would have taken this photo again. Over and over, until the lines were perfect and I touched down, bunz to heelz. Now, I say fuck it. #paryankasana el cuerpo es un resorte, pero es la mente quien lo hace flexible, si trabajas constante y eres disciplinado; si prácticas y prácticas, con el tiempo se verán los resultados. Esta ásana me ha dado mucha dificultad pues se necesita un montón de apertura de hombros y extensión de piernas, los dedos de los pies generan un poco de molestia, creo que por eso evitaba hacerla pero las asanas que mas evitamos son las que más necesitamos, a veces cuando ganas fuerza pierdes flexibilidad y hay que entender que todo el mundo tiene un progreso y transformación diferente, espero que la próxima vez que publique esta pose mis manos puedan estar más abiertas y mis caderas más separadas de los talones ...o tal vez no ! Sunday Funday. Enjoyed a nice relaxing Sunday grind at the gym today. Super quiet in the gym the last couple days which has been nice. Today was delts. Weather is beautiful out so probably why the gym is dead, but I got a great walk with Gabriel before the gym and headed for a late night stroll shortly with him as it’s super nice out, and we are headed out early tom am for our little road trip. Incorporating more of my favourite essentrics/yoga/stretch routine on the daily to help keep everything moving, happy and functioning. Plus maintaining body ergonomics is huge for me and keeping up on preventing old injuries (r shoulder and back) from flaring up. Loving my new program, leaning out while building and the diet is amazing. I have zero cravings, but we will see how I am pre shark week lol, that’s when the chocolate craving evil monkey comes out haha! Non mi sono mai piaciuta e non sono mai stata soddisfatta di me, delle cose che so fare, di come sono. Mai abbastanza. Pian pianino sto imparando a essere gentile con me e la mia volpe, a dargli spazio senza scappare e semplicemente stare. Talvolta è una fatica, talvolta no. Oggi ho provato #paryankasana, così, e ho voluto guardarmi senza quei felponi enormi che metterei di solito. Non è sempre gioia, ma almeno non è nemmeno quel solito lamento di disgusto.
