Happy Sundae OMies. . After spending all day binge watching @mindhunter on netflix yesterday, I knew I needed to do something productive today. . Although I haven’t left the house yet, I got a butt load of laundry done and quite a bit of clothes posted onto Poshmark. Now I’m getting ready to head out to dinner because I’ve been cooped up in here for way too long 😂 . Day 18 of #BendAsNeeded . I tried and tried and tried to do today’s asana before I had to face the facts that I couldn’t do it to save my life and opt for the modified option. 🌴🦎🏋🏻‍♂️ Day 1️⃣8️⃣ of #BendAsNeeded with @cyogalife #Paryankasana #CouchPose #Rückbeuge #Virasana 🦎🌴 Danke an @jinny.suh.00 und @gmcyoga . Eigentlich kann man jede Yogastunde und jede einzelne Asana ganze easy und ohne Anstrengung „hinter sich bringen“, oder: Man legt viel Aufmerksamkeit, Körperbewusstsein, Spannung, Atmung und Intensivität hinein. Hier können wir uns einfach ablegen und liegne. Oder wir arbeiten mit dem Block. Den Beinen, dem Herzraum. Ja – das hier habe ich mir anstrengend gemacht. Weil ich gemerkt, habe, dass ich in dieser Haltung gut mit den Schulterblättern arbeiten kann. Dass ich Knie gut wegschieben kann, das Schambein nach oben, die Zehen in die Matte drücken kann, das Herz nach oben schieben kann. Ich kann den Hals öffnen, das Kinn wegschieben… die Arme aktiveren, die Schultern wieder weg von der Ohren bewegen, die Seiten wieder lang machen … und dann: dann fang ich wieder von vorne an. Weil während ich an der einen Stelle rumjustiert habe und reingeatmet habe, hab ich woanders etwas Aufmerksamkeit verloren. Nehmt einfache Asanas nicht einfach als „simpel und wenig wertvoll“ hin. Auch die Kindeshaltung oder Savasana können sehr komplex werden, wenn wir das wollen.

🌴🦎🏋🏼‍♂️Day 1️⃣8️⃣ of #BendAsNeeded with @cyogalife ↪️ #Paryankasana or #CouchPose 🏋🏼‍♂️🦎🌴Today’s modification has quickly become one of my favorites when working on #backbends and opening up the front side of the body. One of the reasons I love this pose so much is that it’s very easy to incorporate props to customize it to your exact level... and then adjust the props to progress. There are many variations we can take with the arms and shoulders that will give a slightly different feeling in the upper back. Put this together and it’s an ideal pose to do while building up to a peak pose. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can very easily view this pose as a continuation of yesterday’s. There are two very obvious differences: First - the legs are in full #HeroPose. And second - we’re not using the arms to resist the floor and open across the chest; rather we are using gravity to go deeper. The big similarity: the key to this pose (just like many others this month) is strong legs. Both knees are extending forward and with this solid base, we can isolate movement to the spine. And so we’ll begin in hero pose. Next, recline into #SuptaVirasana using a block if needed. Press the elbows into the ground to prop yourself up, begin to arch the upper back, and bring the crown of the head to the floor. Continue arching the upper back as your being the arms overhead grabbing for opposite elbows or extend the arms straight overhead. Keep the shins strongly pressing into the floor as you sink the butt toward the floor while arching in the upper back and opening the shoulders. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ll be posting tomorrow and the next day and then @jinny.suh.00 will provide modifications for the next set of 4. 📷:@darling_nicki

Couch pose (sometimes also called #BedPose), will help you open your heart, stretch your quads, and release tension from the front of your body. . #keeppracticing #yogajourney #yogalove #yogapractice #yogaeveryday #yogaeverywhere #yogi974 #yoga974 #AYearOfYoga2019 #Ayearofchallenge2019 .🐷 . Start in #HeroPose / #Virasana by sitting with your knees bent and together, heels back by the outside of your hips. If it feels like you’re a little tight in the quads, you can elevate your hips by sitting on a block. If you are unable to do hero at all because of knee or ankle issues, you can do this pose with legs in baddha konasana instead. Once your legs are in position, strengthen through your core and begin to lower yourself back. As you lean back, roll your shoulders away from your ears. Tuck your arms behind you, bringing your forearms down to the ground. Keep lifting and opening through your thoracic spine. Let your breath help you stretch your chest as you fill your lungs with air. The crown of your head may eventually rest down, as in fish pose / matsyasana, but if it doesn’t, you can let it hang or place it on a block if it’s uncomfortable. The more space you can find in your chest, shoulders, hip flexors, and quads, the sooner you’ll be ready for scorpion pincha! . . We’re almost there!
