Wobbles & sloppy grasshopper press. Some things come & go; that’s part of what keeps this practice interesting & sustainable. It’s so layered, like the human experience; it can’t be summed up in one pose I’ve been able to do since my first class, or even in a transition I’ve only been able to do a handful of times that disappears periodically. @riva_g_ on Delicious Hollows ❤️ ・・・ Forearm Wheel Hollowback tutorial - because so many of you asked about this pose! 😍 This beautiful backbend was something I once only dreamed of doing, so if you’re still at the stage where the first part of this video looks all too relatable, don’t sweat it! 😅 And you definitely shouldn’t fret if this seems really far off - it’s an advanced asana with a very deep backbend, & on top of that shifting the gaze is super challenging! #giveittime 👌🏼 But when you are ready to start practicing this posture, below are 6 ways you can use yoga blocks to help make it more accessible. ❤️ The blocks I’m using here are from @gaiam & are available at @target (posting the link in my bio for the next 24 hours): 🔸 Open the Upper Back: Place one or two blocks (depending on your flexibility) between the shoulder blades, or just under your shoulder blades. (2-4 min) 🔸 Shoulder & Triceps Stretch: Place both blocks shoulder-width apart on the highest setting. Rest your elbows on the blocks & lower your head & heart. (1-3 min) 🔸 Backbend Prep: Wheel & Forearm Wheel with a block in between the legs will help keep your adductors engaged & your feet parallel (hello safe knees! 👋🏼). (5 breaths, 3 reps) 🔸 With Blocks, Against the Wall: A great opportunity to practice a more accessible variation of this backbend without having to worry about the balance. The further you are from the wall, the less deep the bend. You can start playing with the gaze shift here too. 😍 🔸 With Block(s), Away from the Wall: When you’re ready to move away from the wall, use one (or two blocks stacked) to keep the backbend more accessible (& to help keep forearms parallel). 🙌🏼 Remember: 👇🏼 🔹DON’T force anything. Listen to your body, & take your time. It may not happen right away, & that’s ok, because the most important thing is how it feels (& it should feel good!) Here #hungover my left hand is #shakyasfook after a boozey night in Belgium. BUT I made it to the mat, which is often a struggle being a mum with a hectic job and a half💪Before I even brushed my hair 💁‍♀️ A reminder that progress is not measured in the accumulation of postures - or how well you do them - but more in how you attach or react to them. Showing up is really the hardest part and when I do I never regret it.
