The Eagle has risen: stellar spire in the Eagle Nebula Appearing like a winged fairy-tale creature poised on a pedestal, this object is actually a billowing tower of cold gas and dust rising from a #stellar nursery called the #EagleNebula. The soaring tower is 9.5 light-years or about 90 trillion kilometres high, about twice the distance from our #Sun to the next nearest #star. Stars in the Eagle #Nebula are born in clouds of cold hydrogen gas that reside in chaotic neighbourhoods, where energy from young #stars sculpts fantasy-like landscapes in the gas. The tower may be a giant incubator for those newborn stars. A torrent of ultraviolet light from a band of massive, hot, young stars [off the top of the image] is eroding the pillar. The dominant colours in the image were produced by gas energized by the star cluster's powerful #ultraviolet light. The blue colour at the top is from glowing #oxygen. The red colon in the lower region is from glowing #hydrogen. The Eagle Nebula image was taken in November 2004 with the Advanced Camera for Surveys aboard the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. Do not go gentle into that good night Old age should burn and rave at close of day Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right Because their words had forked no lightning They do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears I pray, do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light Do not go gentle into that good night. What would you name this galaxy? It’s just called NGC 2841 ✨ a giant spiral galaxy similar to the andromeda galaxy. It has a really big ring structure within the constellation Ursa Major. It’s about 46 million light years away and it’s home to a large population of young blue stars. The galaxy itself is around 100,000 light years wide. image: © Roberto Colombari

Look how stunning this spiral is, About 70 million light-years distant, this gorgeous spiral galaxy NGC 289 is larger than our own Milky Way. Seen nearly face-on, its bright core and colorful central disk give way to remarkably faint, bluish spiral arms. The extensive arms sweep well over 100 thousand light-years from the galaxy's center. At the lower right in this sharp, telescopic galaxy portrait the main spiral arm seems to encounter a small, fuzzy elliptical companion galaxy interacting with enormous NGC 289. Of course the spiky stars are in the foreground of the scene. They lie within the Milky Way toward the southern constellation Sculptor, also thank you all so much for almost 15K! The Ring Nebula (also catalogued as Messier 57, M57 or NGC 6720) is a planetary nebula in the northern constellation of Lyra. Such objects are formed when a shell of ionized gas is expelled into the surrounding interstellar medium by a red giant star, which was passing through the last stage in its evolution before becoming a white dwarf. Since we had some canvases left after ugly art night I wanted to revisit a project. Last year I didn't get to have the kids make art based off of their voices. But I think we can make sound wave art this year. Lunar Eclipse: A lunar eclipse is a somewhat rare event, only occurring when the moon passes directly behind Earth and its shadow. The only time that happens is when the sun, moon, and earth are in syzygy (alignment) or close to it. When a total lunar eclipse happens, all sunlight to the moon is blocked off by the Earth, the only light from the moon being refracted by Earth’s atmosphere, giving it the red hue we see here in this image. The atmosphere utilizes the physical process of Rayleigh Scattering of bluer light in order to appear red, which is the same process that makes the sky blue and our sunsets/sunrises red. #telescope

#publicidade #marketingdigital #cancer #youtubers #vocesabia #curiosidades #fato #incrivel #descubrar #brasil #brazil #sol #fatosdesconhecidos #ciencia #redessociais #nasa #trocolikes #midiassociais #midias #midiasdigitais #publicidadeepropaganda #comunicacao #curiosidade #pesquisa #datocurioso #astronomia #space #espaço #novidade
