Ever plan on going for a long run then life gets in the way? And then decide that a short run isn’t worth it. I gotta tell you YOU’RE WRONG. . . . Not only can just 10 minutes of exercise improve your physical health, it can improve your mood, your energy levels and your outlook for the day. . . . I wanted to do a 10km run yesterday morning but slept through my alarm...then my middle little needed some morning snuggles and I couldn’t resist. . . . I only had time for about 30 minutes of running and almost called it but decided just to head out the door. Not only did I get a 4.5 km run in before 7am, saw this beauty of a view in our neighbourhood and I felt invigorated for the day. . . . 23 WEEKS PREGNANT》This photo literally brings tears to my eyes. 5 weeks pregnant with my twins & chasing down the unicorn that I dreamed of for so many years💛💙 I thought I'd be running the @bostonmarathon, no guts no glory, putting it all in for a 3:15 finish. The universe had other plans🧸🧸 With my two tiny babies & my best friend, I counted down the miles to my family waiting at the finish. Running Boston wasn't exactly what I pictured, but it was more than I could've dreamed of. Now, just under 24 weeks pregnant & just over 25 pounds heavier, I find myself feeling beyond blessed that I was capable of running 6 miles this morning. My body is stronger than I could've ever imagined. Pregnancy has been an entirely new world, one that I feel prepared for because of the many fierce women in my life - the ones who have stood by my side & continue to tell me that I have a choice to be healthy, to be resilient. I may not be chasing a 3:15 (right now😉), but I assure you that I've never been more powerful.

Heart Rate Zone Training......Saturday long run edition... . Today was frustrating for me. I was scheduled for a one hour long run ladder that was broken down to: 15min in Zone 2 30min in Zone 4 15min in Zone 2 Despite having ran for over a decade and a half now, I am basically relearning how to run. I recently enlisted the help of a running coach to teach me how to train properly. For years and years I’ve just went out and ran. Now I am learning how to not run based on mileage but rather on heart rate zones. And it’s a little more challenging than one would think. Or at least I thought. Today I was rocking my run for the first 40/45min, but when it came time to get back into Zone 2 I just couldn’t get my heart rate back down. So I had to start walking. I was so frustrated and mad at myself because I wanted to run the whole time but in order to do as my coach wanted I had to walk for about 8min. Once I finally got my heart rate down I started to jog again only to see my heart rate start climbing back up. Once I got to the peak of Zone 2 I had to walk again. This went on for the last 15 min. . Learning how to do things the right way isn’t always fun or easy. In fact it can be damn frustrating at times. It can also take longer. HOWEVER, one thing life has taught me is there are no short cuts if you want quality results, and that is what I am telling myself today. Is it frustrating as hell that I basically walked almost the entire last block of my “run?” YES!!! But will following my coaches advice and teachings make me a better runner and help me to crush finish lines later? I have no doubt it will! A little bit of training and a whole lot of stubbornness got me a 3rd place finish in my age group. I went out there today and just decided to run as fast as I possibly could and I finished 18 seconds faster than last year. How? No idea, but good music always helps (and it drowns out the huffing and puffing). - Thank you for all of the kind words and messages of encouragement and thanks to my guy who came to watch the start of the race. A good support system is a huge part of any battle! - On a side note, how did I get into the 40-49 age group? Seeing it in print just makes me seem old!

Soooo I did not expect this today. +6 minute PR🎉 1:28:50! I finally got the sub 1:30 that I have always dreamed about. The crazy part of it all, is that I still had energy to spare after crossing that finish line. For today's run I decided to go by feel, and I felt amazing. It makes me excited about the future. For the past three 1/2 marathons in a row, I have dealt with vertigo, and sicknesses that really hammered me down, making me think twice about myself, and my running potential. Always remember to keep fighting, and to never give up.
