315 lbs. > 355 lbs. > 365 lbs. All in one week. My goal: 600 lbs. Bodyweight: 180 lbs. . It was my goal for a long time to be able to deadlift 3 plates on each side. It's not a very heavy dead lift but it was a great accomplishment for me. I have been breaking strength plateaus like crazy lately and I did not try to max on dead lift for a long time. But one day I just walked up to the bar and jerked it off the ground. I just kept adding more weight and kept going heavier and heavier. . Many of us are either practicing or prescribing the Superman exercise as a way to fortify people’s backs. . BUT (And I’m sure you knew there was a “but” coming) while this exercise does increase muscular strength and endurance 👍 it also places too much harmful stress on the structures of the spine such as the facets (parts of your vertebrae) and interspinous ligaments. 👎 . Eventually this will lead to degeneration of the spine, which is exactly what most people are trying to avoid by performing this exercise. . ☀️The GOOD News: We can circumvent these negative side effects by modifying the exercise so that we’re only lifting one leg from the floor (as I demonstrate above ☝️🎥). . This modification results in less compressive and shearing forces on the on the spine, and it can still be progressed to become more challenging over time. 💪 . 📍You work the 9-5 & your low-back hurts, plus you have them tight hips..⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Maybe you sit for hours on end or maybe you have to stand all day, both can be recipes for disaster⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The first thing to understand is that your body HATES being in the same position all the time⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you’re sitting all day, your glutes get shut off (AKA super weak). Your core gets weaker day by day. Your hips also get super tight (weak) as a result⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As a result of them being weaker, your low-back starts to carry the load, which mostly leads to low-back pain. Especially if you’re exercising.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I totally get what you’re going through and here’s an important ingredient on what you can do to help resolve it⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Specifically on this post, we’re going to focus on strengthening your glutes & core:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1️⃣ Perform “The Clamshell”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This beauty of an exercise will strengthen your glute medius & your hips. You know, those things being shut off while you sit⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So grab a mini resistance band, place it right above your knees⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Bend your knees at a 45-degree angle, keep your feet touching. Raise your upper knee as high as you can without shifting your hips, while keeping your bottom knee on the floor⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Pause at the top, then repeat 10 times each leg for 2 sets⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2️⃣ Perform the “90/90 Hip Stretch”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This baby will help stretch/relax your glute meds & hips after you just hammered them with The Clamshell. Make sure to do these AFTER the first movement⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Put both knees at a 90 degree angle, keep your front knee inline with your shoulder & keep it DOWN at all times⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Keep your body upright, put your arm straight out to make sure your back knee is inline⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Then put both hands on floor to your sides, try to relax as much as possible when you feel it pulling at your hips (I know this is rough LOL)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Hold position for 30-60 seconds, both legs⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ These two combo’d together alone, helped my client Ryan see tremendous results with his pain relief! Although I’m not a huge fan of stretching, many people will continue to stretch their hamstrings but may notice some increased discomfort in their low back. I have personally helped numerous people that were struggling with back issues and their hamstring stretching was the single thing holding them back from recovery. If you want to stretch these areas just because you like it, that’s fine, but let’s focus on ways that we can improve the stretch for the hamstring, and reduce the strain on the low back. . 1️⃣ Find ways to move through the hips to keep the back straight while increasing the stretch on the hamstrings. Some basic ways you can do this is to put the leg you wish to focus on forward and put your pressure on the heel. Bend the rear leg and push the hips back hinging through the hips to keep the back straight. You can then hold some weight to increase the stretch. Trpezlivosť a vytrvalosť, počúvanie tela a jeho limitov, každodenná prax ma priviedli tam kde som teraz a kde snáď budem o XY rokov 🙏🏻 na zvýšenie flexibility a regeneráciu tela je ideálna Yin Yoga ktorú učím pondelky o 17:30 a piatky 17:30. Yin Yoga je unikátne cvičenie, ktoré v sebe spája prvky Hatha Yogy, Taoizmu a Čínskej medicíny. Cvičenie sa praktizuje “za studena” inak povedané bez zahriatia svalov, kedy energia Chi preniká priamo do spojovacích väzív, kĺbov a hlbokých tkanív. Try adding different variations, such as a twist or coming onto the outer edge of the front foot to open the outer hip.
