• Why my feet never float in #lolasana !? 🤔 Maybe you want to try these tips! 💁 • ✔️ Lean forward. It's not because your arms are short 😅 which I used to think! Just shift your shoulder forward as much as possible. • ✔️ Cat pose spine 🐈 We all know the abs are engaged in cat, and disengaged in cow. Round your back. • ✔️ Protract shoulder blades. It means you separate your shoulder blades to the side, and lift the centre of the heart. • ✔️ Squeeze your knees to chest. Make your whole body compact to lift your knees off. Practice with your toes on the mat, but knees of the mat if difficult 👌 • ✔️ Point your toes! It's much easier to contact your hamstrings & calf. Then you can squeeze your heels to butt easier! • ✔️ Spider fingers 🕷️ Keep the index finger knuckles and the tips of your fingers connected to the mat to stay light on your wrist. • ✔️ Push the floor away! Lolasana is arm balance pose. Fight against the gravity rather than getting into it. • 🔰 Practice with a block under each palms if you are new to this pose. Either mid or low height 😉 Then practice above with your toes down but knees off. Once you feel comfortable, practice lifting one foot off keeping the other on the mat, and switch side! • 🔅 As some of you may have noticed, these tips for Lolasana is pretty much the same as the ones for #Bakasana ( I've posted about a week ago. Check 👉 #YRCYogaTips ) I always believe Lolasana is Bakasana without the support for the knees! That's why I usually teach these two together. If you have pain on your arms in #CrowPose, practice Lolasana to understand you should not rest your whole weight on your arms actually. 💥WARNING: major strength builder! 💪 This one is a must for anyone looking to build a stronger core, arms, legs, and mind! The first time I learned #lolasana my legs felt like they weighed 2000kg and I thought no way...but sure enough after the 100th time or so it started to make sense. It simply takes practice. :::: That being said, go ahead and cheat a little while you practice to make the lesson a little more fun and a little less intimidating. Use a block under each hand to help you lift and shift your body weight and add a strap to compress your body (key tip: press your feet into the straps to activate and pull your butt back!). Have fun with it! You might face plant a few times, that’s ok! Put a pillow there and give it a snuggle each time you do 😆💕 falling is part of the process to rising. I often see students keep their spine straight or arched. By rounding, you can fire up the abs 🔥 • ✔️ Tuck your chin and look back towards your navel like in cat pose for the strong core! • ✔️Lean forward as much as you can to shift your butt forward. The reason most people have a “banana back” problem is because it’s hard when inverted to tell your body to engage your core, especially if you are bendy and new to handstands. L sit to tuck planche to handstand. @brucedierl is adding this to my PT routine: L sit to tuck planche to handstand and reverse. Needed the combination of the skills from press handstand and tuck planche (lolasana) to do this. This is way more difficult than tuck planche as I need to go to maximum height to get into handstand. Now still need spotting.

. LOLASANA 💗 . I love the name of this pose cos I can't help singing it in my head. I doubt any of my readers even know this song but it's a guy singing about a girl named Lola and my fav verse is: . . "Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine Oh my Lola, lo lo lo lo Lola" 🤣🎵 . Anyway, this pose isn't going to break your spine (it may break your wrists but we do try to avoid that in my class 😎) . . Lolasana (Pendant Pose) is well worth trying because it will strengthen your arms, upper back, and abdominals. Plus, you'll feel an exhilarating sense of accomplishment if you actually manage to defy gravity and lift off. . The Pendant, or Swinging Pose has you tuck your torso + bent legs (with the ankles crossed) into a tight ball, then to raise that ball and support its weight with your arms. Once suspended, the ball is rocked between the arms like a swing. The ankles are crossed one way to start, then the pose is repeated with the ankle-cross reversed. I like to teach this pose with legs crossed in Sukhasana as it makes for a more compact lower body. Try it and see which version works best for you. . . . @seacoralyoga -  Tomorrow is day 7 of #wellroundedyogis ⠀ Pose: #lolasana aka #pendulumpose ⠀ I know... I know... So many of you were afraid of this day, I read all the comments😂 But we come bearing gifts, I mean options cause that’s what we do as hosts 💁🏼‍♀️💁🏼‍♀️ I did a video with some drills you can do if lolasana is completely out of your practice. Just do the drills, it’s called yoga PRACTICE for a reason😉 ⠀ First drill: Use a ball or wheel, roll into your lolasana using the ball or wheel to support your feet. This is a great drill to practice keeping your knees up and as you roll into your lolasana. Remember, keep knees high, shoulder blades pulled apart, arms straight and lean forward. Second drill: Use blocks under your hands or books 📚 if you don’t have blocks. Just simply practice, lifting knees up one at a time, then practice lifting your entire leg up one at a time. (Try not to look like a dog lifting his leg like I do cause of my shoes 😅) If your ready for lolasana, let’s look at your entry into lolasana. DO NOT HOP OR JUMP UP INTO LOLASANA. Using momentum will make you drop just as fast as you come up. ⠀ Instead try entering with blocks or without blocks, KNEES START UP HIGH! That’s the biggest cue I’ll give you! KNEES UP HIGH INSTEAD OF STARTING FROM THE GROUND. Then once again, start leaning forward with your arms straight and core pulled up, then your toes should just lift off the ground! ⠀ Advanced options: Another entry is to lower from bakasana/crow pose. I just wasn’t feeling so strong when I did this, but you’ll get the idea. ⠀ If your a lolasana rockstar, try to toe taps and knee lifts I show at the end😁🤟🏻 Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
