✨ "Empower children to consciously move around the world" ✨ . For day 2 of #5FaveAsanas is my fave Seated Asana. . Today I went with this variation of the Hands To Feet boat posture, as part of the turns, this variation has a combination of Ubhaya Padangusthasana (pose of the two big toes) for balance, and Surya Yantrasana (compass pose) for the turn. Because I like both of them separately and if I do combain them challange my strengh, balance and flexibility . . Fav things: “My Kids doing yoga, that sounds so cute!” The actuality of kids practicing yoga goes way beyond “cute.” Children are naturals at practicing yoga. They are curious about how their bodies work and they learnd so quick. How cool is that?! . ✨How to Headstand✨ @miz.liz . . . Flexibility & strength drills to get you safely inverted in a headstand! (It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these 🙃) . . . 1. Downdog - 3 legged down to stretch hamstring & hips 2. 3 legged dog - toe tap with straight or bent knees to same side wrist x10 each side 3. Tip toe up to standing forward fold with straight legs 4. Standing forward fold to malasana squat x10 5. Downdog to dolphin - drop down to forearms both at the same time or one at a time and then back up x10 to build arm/shoulder strength 6. Forearm plank with hands interlaced - hold 30-60 seconds 7. Forearm plank walk to dolphin as close to head as possible with straight legs + tuck chin to chest and put crown of head gently to ground 8. Frame head with forearms - push through shoulders to lift head off ground and then back down x10 9. Walk back to forearm plank - shoulder protraction and retraction x10 10. Walk up to dolphin - dolphin nose kisses x10 to the ground 11. Rock on tip toes to gently drop crown of head to the ground a couple of times, keep on pressing into forearms to take weight off the head 12. Tuck in one knee to glute at a time 13. If you feel comfortable here, slowly start to lift legs straight up to the sky **important to press into forearms to keep weight off the head** . . . Try these drills out and happy inverting! 🙃🙃

Our last day of #alourfavoritethings is yogis choice! - I’m choosing chair pose aka. Utkatasana (+little eagle leg backbend variation in the first photo) - Chair is one of those postures to me that you can find consistent strength in. Chair makes me feel strong and powerful even when my legs are shaking. Breathe, Balance, Smile, Repeat 💜 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Regulars to our classes will know we love playing with balancing poses such as Vrksasana (Tree pose), Virabhadrasana III (Warrior 3) or Ardha Chandrasana (1/2 Moon) 🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏼‍♂️ But why is balancing so important? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When we balance, we align our body's centre of gravity with the earth's gravitational field. But we can't achieve this harmony by remaining absolutely still. Instead, we must wobble and refresh our balance moment after moment. The sustained effort to centre and recenter, when successful, brings not only our flesh and bones into balance but also our nerve impulses, thoughts, emotions, and very consciousness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s also a great way to not take yourself too seriously. Having a laugh when you fall out is a great way to dispel frustration and help you lighten up your mood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Next time you are cursing your body or the teacher for making you transition from warrior 3 to half moon then attempt a full leg extension, take a moment to smile knowing you are balancing more than just the physical body 🙏🏻 . . . . . . #learnyoga #namaste #healthyyogi #healthybody #healthylifestyle #balancing #practicebalance #inspired #yogalife #meditation
