#Janushirasana #HalfButterfly * Sit in Dandāsana, flexing the toes upward. * Bend left knee and bring the sole of the foot on the inner right thigh. * Inhale - Raise your arms above the head, lengthening the spine. * Exhale -  Reach forwards folding over the right leg. * Keeping your back flat hinge forward from the hip joint. * Take hold of the left shin, ankle or the toes; wherever you are, keep your elbows as soft as possible. * Relax through the shoulders and sink forward with the belly and chest towards 
the thigh. The crown of your head reaches for the toes. Let gravity do the work.
 In the pose * Undulate with the breath, find a slight gentle lift with the inhale, soften with the exhale. * Internally rotate the left thigh. 
Repeat on the opposite side. Checkpoints * Keep the toes flexed on both feet. On the extended leg, the toes point towards the sky, try and keep the outside of the foot engaged. * Keeping the back as flat as possible will stretch into the hamstrings, but if they are tight, you can put a bend in the knee or a rolled blanket under the knee. * Don’t forget to breath :). Life can be very busy ... YES for you too ??? - you know it !!! LIFE .. the glorious mundane cleaning,meal prep, traffic,kid pick ups, drop offs to the joy of a little time for self to attend, a SGI Buddhist women's conference, fashion shows with other beautiful woman, teaching yoga ... to cherished bedtime cuddles and stories... to be ready to do it ALL again for the week ahead !!!! .... Head to Knee Pose.⠀ ⠀ Forward bending postures involve flexion at the hip and spine and generally there is a lengthening of the posterior chain of the body and shortening and contracting of the anterior chain of the body, there is definitely exceptions to this rule though.⠀ ⠀ Key anatomical movements in this posture include hip flexion, slight hip internal rotation at extended leg, hip external rotation at bent leg and spinal flexion. ⠀ ⠀ Variations could include a strap around the foot keeping the torso more upright, a block under the hips or knee or reclined laying on the back.⠀ ⠀ Forward bends are typically more calming to the nervous system, initiating the parasympathetic nervous system, the rest and digest mechanism. Mentally they can be calming and quieting to the mind and have a more introspective quality.
