Welcome to day eleven of the #findbalancelegs #igyogachallenge. 🙏🏻🕉 Today’s pose is #birdofparadise, #svargadvijasana. This is definitely no beginners pose either, so don’t worry if your body is not ready for it. It is a deep hip opener and hamstring stretch that requires balance and open shoulders and hips. You also need to be able to open your chest. Standing on one leg will strengthen your calves, quadriceps, and glutes, as well as help you access and engage your core to keep you from losing your balance. I am so sorry, but I just realized that I cannot take the footage from the weekend, because my shorts are just too small. It would look vulgar. As even insights and epiphanies have to show up as thoughts, it’s so hard to distinguish whether this is a thought coming from the fearful reptile part of your brain or if it’s a message from your higher self. Listening to my feelings is the most secure way to go for me. Always take them seriously, never deny them or write them off as stupid. I want my mind and my heart to work well together. (Sadhguru) 🕉 Even though a balanced life is incongruent with Truth, and to really experience life, it SHOULD be unbalanced and challenging, by which I mean you have to experience both ends of the scale, which will ultimately lead to balance anyways. I still try to find balance in my body, so that my mind can follow along and juggle the challenges. So I spontaneously decided to show where I am at, toe-balance-wise, after getting back from work today. I usually practice this early in my sadhana, when the mind has not been stirred up yet and without music. 💘Each piece of Pilates equipment is so unique and works & challenges the body differently. I love the Cadillac for the traction it provides as well as the introspection. It slows me down & helps me hone in on my posture. ✅Working on my upper back strength, CORE centering, hamstring flexibility, glute strength and balance here in these moves. 🔺Each movement challenges the mind, strength, coordination and stabilizing muscles. 🔺Every wiggle left to right is a reminder to recentrer and move from inside - out. 🔺Pilates trains mindfulness and therefore intelligent movement. I love the 🔥burn, but that is extra (& don’t worry, it comes😁😉), deep core stabilizing work will always produce the longest lasting effects in the body for more tomorrows and no burnout or injury, no fads but a lifestyle of living healthily. 🤸‍♀️~~~~~☀️🌴~~~~💪🏼~~~~🤸‍♀️~~~~~☀️🌴 🌈Happy Monday friends 🙌🏼 Be motivated, keep moving & enjoy the adventure, each new day😘 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

STRENGTH💪🏼💥 🖐🏼Interrupting the glute series for this marvelous shoulder PREP for shoulder bridge. ⚠️WAIT❗️😧You might be VERY alarmed to see me lifting my shoulders to my ears as I raise my arms overhead (p.s. I’ve never 🚫done that before & always cue gliding the blade down as the arm lifts👍🏼) 👉🏼BUT THIS IS ✅A SPECIFIC PREP TO SHOULDER BRIDGE OR HANDSTAND IF you plan to weight bear in this way the shoulders must push up, so please know this post is rather specific to that! 🌴~~~~🇦🇪~~~~☀️~~~~🌴~~~~🇦🇪~~~~☀️ 🙌🏼I went to Thicha’s @thichapilates amazing 🥇shoulder workshop in Boston a few weeks back and found these stretches fabulous👌🏼with specific attention given to the rotation of the arm which of course directly correlates to the glide of the scapula and is KEY🔑KEY🔑KEY to : ❇️Releasing tension carried in the shoulder ❇️Preventing injury or impingement ❇️Reinforcing proper functional mechanics ❇️Increasing mobility ❇️Stretching & opening the chest as well as building flexibility ✔️All you need is a theraband. 🌴~~~~🇦🇪~~~~☀️~~~~🌴~~~~🇦🇪~~~~☀️ 🔺The sequence : 1️⃣Arms overhead to back behind : shrug up to lift, externally rotate arms as you open up and back, then internally rotate the arm as you reach down- GENTLY! 2️⃣1 arm up, 1 arm up/down : watch the arm that moves down, it starts up externally rotated then moves into an internal rotation to go down 3️⃣Arm down gently pulls arm that is up, opening the front of the shoulder working flexibility 4️⃣Scisaw tee arms : gently abducting the shoulder blades 5️⃣Upper back extension : pressing ribs against wall & lifting up & over strap behind back. 🌴~~~~🇦🇪~~~~☀️~~~~🌴~~~~🇦🇪~~~~☀️ ➕I added my ToneY wrist bands for #toneybandsthursday Join me, @tonka_cascais & @toneybands with an amazing, inspiring group of world over instructors, check out more ideas under the hashtag, follow, join & post with us.🙂

Turn the head away from the band for a deeper stretch . Eventually add in circular shoulder movements . Best way to start the day here in HK, thanks so much my dear coach @basicreflex and training buddies @dapelbaum ! Even though I put on boxing gloves around twice a year these days the body-brain memory is instantly present, as is the joy in practicing with friends. 🥊 This is what practicing something consistently over a period of time gifts us with. There’s a lot of value to specialising and going deeper, at least for a while. Bad luck during my last several lower body sessions when every single bb or rack has been in use when I need to do BB RDL. So this is the alternative . Massive glute emphasis here and a very simple movement . Fall forwards then throw traps backwards and hump . Pilates is suitable for anybody. Pilates is a great exercise to improve functional strength and flexibility. If you are lacking flexibility, it can improve it. If you are someone that is flexible, it can help with joint stability and functional strength.
