Sky Yoga Tumbling Dancer 🦋 1. Begin in Star. Upside down with the hammock on the sacrum and the legs and arms wide to the sides 2. Bend the knees and bring the soles of the feet together for Bat pose. 3. Hook the toes on the fabric and reach the hands above your feet. 4. Climb up using your arms and core and simultaneously open your knees for Frog pose. It’s optional to release the arms and open the legs into a wide straddle split 5. Grab one side of the fabric with both hands (the right side). 6. Roll the leg hip forward through the fabric and around the outside. At the same time release the left leg and straighten the right leg up. The straight right leg wraps around the fabric with the fabric in the inner arch of the right foot, 7. The left leg is bent and free. Slide the hands down and once you are close to the bottom leg go and open the chest 8. Reach back with both hands to grab the left foot for upside down dancer or Upside Down King Dancer (as shown in the video) ❤️ Once you get used to the movement you can speed this up but in the beginning go slow to be sure that the extended leg finds a secure place on the fabric 🙏 #yogatutorial #aerialyoga #aerialyogateacher

When I look at this photo, my eyes go straight to my belly. Cue the nasty mental chatter, saying “My abs aren’t visible anymore. I have gained too much weight. My curves are too much. Right now there are boxes and stuff like everywhere... i’m in the middle of moving my office and into a tiny new studio with my boyfriend. (Please excuse the yellow tape measure in the corner serving as my tripod 😂👍) My regular self care routine has been admittedly a struggle and I find myself eating my feelings in comfort foods like cereal and pancakes and pizza (haven’t eaten this much crap since I was a kid). My body has definitely suffered from the move, my left C3-C4 vertebrae wont fully rotate... my right psoas and left SI have basically seized up. Sometimes self awareness is a gift, sometime I wish I could shut off the pain and the knowledge. Because if you know what’s wrong, and you’re listening to your body, then you have to do something about it right? So here I am taking my own medicine, doing a precious 12 minutes of yoga practice. My mantra has been “keep it simple and take it one step at a time.” Baby steps to victory is the most helpful mindset to me right now... and seemingly resonates w many of my clients too. If I look at everything that needs work right now, I get overwhelmed. But if I stay in the present moment, I can find the joy and beauty unfolding in the path before me... the marvelous adventure I’m embarking on with my partner... and appreciate my body’s messages as an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and not forget to give as much effort to myself as I give to everyone around me. So I’m taking my own advice which I give to my clients repeatedly— “All you need is 10-15 minutes a day 2-3 times a week. revisit the practice in frequent small bits. Ok....I know the snapshot looks ...😳 BUT I can tell this drill works!! I'm working on my weak side of my body and after my injury on lower back and #pelvis , this drill has helped. Simply just make the body heavy. Deep breaths, hold, engage, slowly release. Be conscious where the body is. When I move right side pelvis up, my left leg and foot become really heavy. Know where the #hamstrings and butts are and just #squeeze them My practice of #purification #breath has made a huge difference. Still trying to find balance of daily life and spiritual world. Something very interesting and it keeps going on. A journey I would say. .... I was recently asked by someone in my yoga class if I practiced yoga every day. My answer was yes, but then I began to feel rather conscious of how that might come across. I felt the need to explain more about what my daily practice looks like. The last thing I wanted was to portray an image that seemed unachievable. My yoga fits around my life, my job and mostly around the life of my 2 year old son. Yoga can be part of your daily life without it feeling too difficult to find the time. I think the difficult bit is knowing where to start. This is the first time I tried this variation. It feels really good. The closer I walk my finger tips to the ground, the deeper the stretch of shoulders is. 1.23.19 | Splits | Trying out this splits variation that I have saved a while back. Today, we are reflecting on ways we emotionally evolved last year. - 2018 was tough - looking back at the beginning of the year, I felt like I was so naive and I was oblivious to certain things that was happening at the place I work. But as things became more clear, I began to see the truth. I put so much of myself into my work, and I felt like I was slaving away for other people’s benefit. There were certain things that just didn’t align with who I am and that created internal conflict. - With the conflict, I just felt myself spiraling down emotionally. I had so much confusion, anger, sadness and stress contained - I felt like I couldn’t escape no matter what I do. - But 2019, I’m working really hard on letting go of negativity and not allow it to get to me. There are still times where I feel like I get stuck in these little pockets - but it’s such a change from before, which I’m grateful.
