We often get caught in the overwhelm of the big picture, and the HOW. How will it change? How can I find the time? How am I going to find the energy? I’m really having a hard time accepting that happiness isn’t the dopamine rush I’m aaaalways looking for. For me, if I’m being totally honest with myself, happiness is really contentment and peacefulness. I’m 29, mother of two young children. My 2.5 year old son has major speech delays which adds a layer to the terrible twos that is very... Trying. I’m a stay at home mom in not only a different town than I grew up in, but a different country. And of course I picked the country that is, for some weird reason, flushing itself down the toilet. Anyway, I’m feeling cut off from people and very isolated. Sometimes I really like being independent and I guess kind of a loan wolf but sometimes it hurts a bit. I am not the easiest person to like (we can’t all be). I’m super grateful for everything in my life and I feel so blessed. And of course, despite my blessings, I still feel alone and tired and honestly just kinda bummed out right now. I’m going to accept that these are my current feelings and just keep on keeping on. My whole world doesn’t need to crumble just because I’m craving socialization with someone other than my kids.. AND NO.. this doesn’t mean I’m looking for a two hour visit with someone who’s all about small talk... that’s the last thing I need. To be frank.. I’d give up a lot of my blessings just to feel like I belonged to something outside of my home. And I definitely will. I have to exercise patience until the days that my life has more opportunities to focus on my purpose that go beyond being a mother. It is cold and overcast here in San Diego, and one of my favorite things to do after getting home from the farmer’s market on a gloomy day is experiment in the kitchen. Today, I made this potato leek tart, and it turned out so delicious! I served it for lunch with steamed broccolini and cauliflower sauce, but it would be equally good with a side of apple sauce (a great brunch option, I think). It was so flavorful, and it is vegan, gluten-free, and oil-free. Potato Leek Tart . 4-6 small leeks, dark green parts removed 1 large sweet onion 1 head garlic (about 7-10 cloves) 3 large Russet potatoes 3 cups chickpea flour 2 cups water juice of 1 ½ lemons 2 Medjool dates, pitted ½ tsp garlic powder ½ tsp onion powder 2 tsp Himalayan salt ¼ tsp ground black pepper 2 tsp dried thyme 1 tsp dried rosemary . Preheat oven to 400 F . Peel potatoes and cut into small cubes. Place in the steaming basket of an Instant Pot with 1 cup of water. Set to Manual at 4 minutes. Use quick release method to remove and allow to cool slightly. Alternatively, steam on the stove until cooked through, but not soft, so potatoes hold shape. . Clean leeks and cut into thin rounds. Cut onion into thin half-rounds. Separate cloves of garlic but do not peel. Place leeks, onions, and garlic on a parchment-lined baking tray and roast in oven for 10 minutes. Remove and cool slightly. . Once cooled, peel garlic cloves and place in jug of a high-speed blender with chickpea flour, water, lemon juice, dates, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, thyme, and rosemary. Blend for 1 minute, or until a smooth batter forms. . Put the onions, leeks, and potatoes in a large mixing bowl. Pour batter over and gently mix with a spatula until well blended. Pour mixture into a quiche pan lined with parchment paper and gently level with a spatula. Bake for 30 minutes, turning to achieve even browning, if necessary. Tart is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. . Allow to cool slightly (10-15 minutes) and slice into pie-shaped wedges. Makes 8 wedges.

Saturday 5.25 Day 1 #liverrescue 3-6-9 cleanse is in the books! . the most noticeable difference so far throughout just the 2 week @medicalmedium “morning rescue” mini cleanse prep is just how inflamed I felt after returning to lean animal protein, avocados and decaf coffee last week. Was missing them as part of my routine because I feel more energetic throughout the day and through weight training when consuming them so added them back in. Though, by the end of hr week I felt heavy, bloated, puffy everywhere, fatigued and my neuropathy returned with tingling in my hands and fingers. Be aware when the mind creates thoughts that promote division and conflict with others, and when there is no purpose to actually bring about a change, but the mind is simply resisting, judging or condemning how things are. . Unloving thoughts do us more harm than they do to anyone else. They can simply enhance our self-image temporarily, at the cost of lowering our state of being and creating resistance and conflict within. We free ourselves by bringing more awareness to whether what we are experiencing within is aligned with our well-being or not, rather than simply feeding the emotions and thoughts that come with a good justification or story. . It may seem we’re not being true to ourselves if we stop feeding the stories that resonate with us and that seem true to us. But a story that creates resentment, hatred or conflict within is not a story based on our true self anyway. It is created by the mind, by our self-image, the ego, whose concern is to enhance its own image. . A story that is true to ourselves, is a story that allows us to thrive, to experience more freedom and love, and not resistance and conflict. In moments we’re holding on to a story that causes us harm, resistance or conflict, we are more in love with our self-image than we are with ourselves. It means we aren’t willing to let go in order to give us what we most need. . The moment we become aware of the stories, we start opening space to let go, to release all that is not aligned with our true nature and our wellbeing. We no longer want to feed what harms us even if it seems justified, we open our hearts to forgive and to be free, so we can elevate our state of being and allow ourselves to thrive, and nurture what serves our highest good and well-being despite any story. ❤️

I want to introduce and share parts of me with you today. I want to introduce parts of myself that I’m proud of and parts of myself that I’m still learning to love. . . I’m Amanda. I’m 28 years old. I’m married to the boy I laid eyes on in 7th grade and never quite stopped fiercely loving. I have a two year old son name Eli who has taught me more about myself than I ever thought possible. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology and spent the last five years teaching. I just transitioned to being a stay at home mom. I’m also training to become a yoga teacher. I love reading about World War II and the Holocaust. I feel most alive among the trees and dancing to old school R&B! I have a fascination with deer, spirituality, the moon, connecting with others and talking about things we’ve spent so much time trying to hide from. I love being alone. For the last 6 months I’ve been on this journey of self love and healing and I’ve never felt so aware and at peace. I’m constantly trying out new hobbies and giving up on others. I love creating, taking photos, writing, teaching and inspiring. These are the parts of me I love. . . These are the things I’m still learning to love about myself and heal from: I was molested throughout my childhood and I’m still very resentful, hurt and ashamed because of it. I am easily able let go of friendships which is why I don’t have many. Sometimes I don’t feel like I know who I truly am. I’m selfish, even when it comes to motherhood. I bite my nails and pull strands of my hair when things seem to become too much. I’m impatient and constantly battle with self-doubt. . . Tell me something about yourself, the good, the bad or the ugly. None of it changes how magnificent you are.

For a long time my life was guided by fear and worry. I worried about what others thought, about the future, about pretty much everything. I was so scared about things going wrong, that I often forgot to live. I started loving myself a little more and allow myself to just be, and suddenly there are days were I am just living.Through that the fear and the worries decreased.
