The path of least resistance is rarely the path to greatness . . Today I started bench pressing 15kg dumbells and it felt good to do it so effortlessly even though I knew that I could (and should) take it a bit heavier. Then I reminded myself that I cant choose the easy way, or stay in my comfort zone and expect progress. So I stopped being a wuss and pushed myself for the summer arms I want 😏 . . One of the biggest things I’ve learned on this #healthandfitnessjourney is that planning ahead makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE!!😉 Even on a holiday weekend, I still made myself go to the grocery store so we would be prepared for the week. . I fill my fridge with a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats, healthy fats and some carbs for energy to FUEL my body. I like to wash and cut up fruits and veggies so they are ready to go! 🍉🥒 . If I have healthy food on hand, I’m more likely to make good choices. I follow a nutrition plan probably 80% of the time. I still enjoy wine and fries from time to time because I’m human! 🍷 #exerciseforextrafries . A healthy lifestyle/weight loss does not have to be over complicated! I started off my day with delicious kodiak cake pancakes with sugar free syrup and some strawberries! ❤😋 - I've been really productive today I have to say, my energy is awesome and I'm getting a lot done more than I thought ☺. - It's a really hot day outside but decided to work around in the house mostly and clean, go through some things on my to do list ✔. - I'm probably going to do some meal prep tonight when it's a little cooler so my house isn't as hot with this nice weather we are having ❤ - I recently picked up this pancake mix called kodiak cakes that I've heard about from Whitney Simmons and I always wanted to try them. I finally did today and they are delicious! Whew! Is it as hot where you are as it is in C'ville?!? 🌞 Summer is definitely here! . I filmed a short workout for my clients for tomorrow since I'm off for Memorial Day and I thought you guys would like it as well. It'll be perfect for a pre-barbeque sweat sesh! Swipe ➡️ to see all 5 exercises. . The whole workout is one big circuit. After you finish one round of all 5 exercises, do 90s of cardio alternating between 15s of hard effort and 15s moderate effort. Do the whole circuit as many time through as time allows - you should be able to get through 2 rounds in 30 minutes. . 💪 Workout: 💪 1️⃣ Double pulse squat/lunge: 18 reps (18 pulse squats and 9 lunges on each side). Use bodyweight only to lower the intensity. . 2️⃣ Push-up to renegade row: 18 reps (18 push-ups and 9 rows on each side). Drop to your knees to lower the intensity. Keep your mid-section tight throughout. . 3️⃣ Dumbbell bicep curl to front-side raise: 18 reps. Keep the chest lifted and mid-section tight throughout. Make sure to feel work in the front, side, and back of your shoulders in the front-side raise. . 4️⃣ V-sit with overhead tricep extension: 18 reps. Keep your pelvis in a posterior tilt (pubic bone tucked up). Leave your feet on the ground to reduce the intensity or if the exercise bothers your lower back. . 5️⃣ Single leg glute bridge to leg-climb crunch: 9 reps on each side. Climb as high as you can on the crunch - if you can only reach to your thigh or knee, that is totally fine. . I hope you enjoy the workout!! Please let me know if you have any questions. Well it may be muggy out, but that doesn’t stop me from getting dirty. Like the sweaty dirty kind. Day 7 of 21 in the books. ⠀ ⠀ There is no stopping me even on Sundays. The day of rest. No rest for the weary here. Summer has arrived and we gotta keep that momentum going. Because as much as I love hiding behind jeans and leggings, let’s be real here, I gotta allow shorts and cute tank tops into my life. (Really we will see how that goes 🤣) Stepping out of that comfort zone.⠀ ⠀ Trying not to loose that momentum. Half way in the year and summer is here! This baby boy has all the confidence in the world that he is loved and amazing. . How do we lose that? . I guess after years of “no” and being hurt, we give in. Being healthy and sticking to a plan is not all about restrictions, it’s about enjoying treats and learning how to have them in moderation. Today I’ve made a batch of dark chocolate strawberries 🥳😋🥰 a few years ago I would have just eaten the big bar of chocolate ( and it would have been white chocolate not dark ) and then hated myself and felt horrible for doing it but now I can enjoy things like this and know I’m still on track and I don’t have to live my life telling myself having treats is bad and setting unrealistic restrictions.
