Thursdays are for Pace Runs! In this case it's half-marathon pace for 3 miles, layered between warmup and cooldown of 1.5 miles each. How I do the pace days: I walk out to my starting point,which is about 1/8 mile or so. Do a few high-knees or active stretching on the way. Once I start, I start very slow for the first 1/4 mile or so, and then I'll run a little faster...trying out the tempo that is about to come. I'm letting my legs know it's coming. I only do this a few times during warmup for maybe 10-15 seconds. When it's time to run the pace miles, I try to relax. My mind keeps telling me this is too fast to run an entire 13.1. Shut the hell up, it's months away. I'm building toward that goal. Eventually hit the halfway mark, and it's all downhill. Keep reminding myself not to lose focus, and try to remain relaxed. The cooldown is easy. Just run comfortably, and don't worry about the pace. No such thing as too fast or slow...just run easy, and by feel. After a few minutes, try closing my mouth and breath through my nose. That's how I know it's easy! The end.

Week 3 of my half-marathon training...and today was speed day! 6 x .5 mile intervals. 7:00 pace might not be fast for some, but for me it is pretty ambitious! The plan actually has a range that goes as slow as 7:18 pace, but for these shorter intervals, I like to keep it on the fast end. I was daydreaming a bit on the 5th one I guess! 😂 I still wonder if I might be aiming a bit high for my race goal (sub 1:40), but I'd rather be a bit too ambitious than being out there sandbagging. These SOS days are reallly hard, but they are so rewarding when I finish them!

Receiving my medal from a US Marine, Priceless! We chatted briefly and even got a salute and congratulated me for finishing a very challenging race for everyone. Forget about the shoe malfunction, puking and running for almost 7 hours in the torrential downpour and heat towards the end. It is the most humbling and memorable moment of the entire experience. This is my 9th consecutive Marine Corps Marathon event. 7 time marathon finisher, 1 DNF (DNF 2017), and this year proud finisher of the #mcm50k inauguration. I'm not sure why I keep coming back. Up to now, I cannot master the MCM course :) #MedalMonday #runwiththemarines #marinecorpsmarathon #mcm50k

Strength work at the track went well today. 1 mile warm up, (2 miles + 800 meter recovery)3 times, 1 mile cool down. I hit all my paces comfortably and felt well afterwards. Next Sunday I plan to run the Marshall University Half Marathon 💚 🏃‍♀️ and see how the training is coming along. Today’s workout added up to 38 laps around the track ... it’ll be nice to apply my training to a new settling. Six more weeks to go!! #marathontraining #HansonMarathonMethod

It was the toughest craziness thing with all the heavy pouring rain almost throughout the race. Slide right for some samples. Thought about quitting around mile 13 with shoe malfunction due to totally soaking wet. Fought what could be blisters formed. I don't want to look at it as it hurts right now. The most painful legs I have endured but fought through all the challenges and finished! Glad to be part of the @marinecorpsmarathon inauguration of urban 50K Ultra Marathon. #missionaccomplished Completed my 3rd lifetime 50K, today being my first road 50K.
