🆙 WHY DO CHIP UPS? 🆙 ~ Chin ups are probably one of my favourite bodyweight workouts, before anything - I'll always do some chin ups before lifting as that's what I'm wanting to improve on the most. Has been since I started and still is. It's funny how when I began my training I couldn't even do ONE chin up!! Now doing them is second nature, just shows that consistency will pay off! ~ But what are the benefits? ~ 🔥 Improved grip strength | Your fingers, hands and forearms are all used. ~ 🔥 Works multiple muscles | Including your back, abs, chest and biceps! ~ 🔥 Improves core stability | Your abs are being used to help keep your body straight, keeping control over your torso and legs to prevent swinging. ~ What's your favourite body weight exercise? YOU BUTCHERED IT, MATE . Some mid week rantiness. . Of recent weeks I've come across some people on social media butchering exercises. . Usually lifting weight with little to no mindful movement, shit technique 🤦‍♂️ or just putting as much weight on as possible. . I'm all for progressive overload, lads but not to the extent where you've got poor technique and reduced volume (not much anyway). . Perfection is near impossible but aiming for it IS NOT! . If you're swinging a weight, bouncing a bar or just being a bell with the cables. Take a step back. . You're not going to gain muscle this way, you're just going to accumulate fatigue and probably get injured. . Not to mention break the equipment and we all know how quick gyms are to fix their equipment...👀 . Bench press. 5 sets of 5, reps went 5-4-4-3-3 with 110kg. This bench sucked D, really. The bench itself is a bit wider than normal, and underneath the hook, there is a small widening and my bar touched it. So basically my bench training was me waiting for contact with the bar on the widening. One question I actually get frequently is how do I cater my workouts around my PERIOD. Yes I said the word. I actually don't change a thing because working out makes me feel better. "Endorphins make ppl happy, and happy ppl don't shoot their husbands" #namethatmovie. Ok but seriously, training abs for whatever reason actually HELPS me feel better, makes my back hurt a little less, etc. Give this one a go and tell me you don't feel better already. 1️⃣ side plank crunches: 4x10 each side 2️⃣ ...superset w/half burpees: 4x30 seconds 3️⃣ crunch to wall ball throw: 4x15 4️⃣ ...superset with hand stand hop ups (if you can't do a handstand then walk your hands out further): 4x30 seconds 5️⃣ cable crunches: burnout of 100 reps (I legit do sets of 50, 20, 20, and 10) . . . .
