Drying out process will start today slowly (big factor for me) I'm not far from weigh in weight so no crazy tricks or insane weight drops in short period of time(this is key to not draining the body/muscles) I feel very good and confident with i am and the changes i know i can make in the next 3 days! - Being able to show all the years improvements and hard work has A LOT to do with "peaking" perfectly! Unilateral Training or single side training is an awesome way to challenge💪🏽👌🏽 your body and break through plateaus🙌🏽. We have have three examples demonstrated by @jaszie_slimm. The first exercise is the beloved (dreaded☠️💀) Strict Step Up. The exercise emulates the bottom range of a deep squat but only on one side🤭!! The keys 🔑 are to keep the non working leg completely straight, push the knee forward, hips back, and lean forward with good posture. Push off just the working leg with a tripod foot ( pressure even between the two “balls” of your foot and the heel. The second exercise is the weighted Bent Knee Hip Extension. This exercise will expose left/right dominances and weakness by isolating the Glutes. 🍑The key 🔑 here is to keep the spine neutral and the elbows locked out. The body will naturally try to compensate for your tight hip flexors by shifting into anterior pelvic tilt (arched back). DON’T 🚫let that happen.🙅🏻‍♂️ The third exercise is the Suitcase carry👍🏽. An awesome exercise for challenging the core. Make sure to “stack” the joints meaning shoulders over hips and take short steps. Keep the dumbbell off of your hips. I don't normally post stuff like this, but I found this pic on my phone and it blew my mind how much of an impact your mental health has on your physical health. The pic on the left was taken June 2017, weighing about 200-205 lbs, a few weeks prior to starting my job at Keyano. Before that I had been unemployed for the last 5 months, and had been unemployed 4 times in the last 2 years. I was broke, feeling lost, had no motivation to do anything and was struggling with depression. Sometimes I wondered if it was even worth it to keep trying, or if I should just end it all. The worst part is, no one around me knew. I withdrew into myself, and isolated myself from friends and family to suffer in silence. I know this will come as a shock to some people as I've always been Mr. Positive, the eternal optimist. I felt ashamed about feeling depressed, and didn't want people to know. Phrases like "man up", or "be a man" were part of the reason for my silence, there is still such a stigma around men's mental health, and there's a reason suicide rates are much higher in men than women. The pic on the right is 18 months later, December 2018, weighing around 230 lbs. I've got a well-paying and fulfilling job, I'm going back to school to get my MBA, and I'm surrounded by family and friends who love and care for me. Does that mean I'm "cured"? Absolutely not, depression and mental health issues don't work like that, but I definitely am doing better. I still have some rough days, but for the most part things are good. Unfortunately my mental health is something I'm probably going to be dealing with for the rest of my life, but that's ok. It's ok to not be ok, it's ok to admit that you need help sometimes. Just know that no matter how shitty things may seem at the time, it will eventually get better. 2015➡️a few weeks ago - What started off as a weight loss journey for me has now developed into a self-discovery and self-love journey. Originally I was only focused on the physical, but I learned that my emotional health played a huge role in being physically healthy. It’s hard to stick to a diet or get to the gym when you’re depressed. It’s hard to be motivated when you’re anxious and feel like you’re falling apart. I know, I’ve been there!! Sometimes you need to cry, so cry. Sometimes you need to lift heavy shit, so lift it. And sometimes you just need to binge watch baking shows while cuddled up in your favorite blanket. ☺️ Do what brings you joy, and when you find that joy.. live in it. Appreciate it, and take steps to keep growing it.🌱 - I do think your physical and mental health go hand-in-hand, but I also believe that you should put your mental health first, and then you can get physical. When your mind feels good, do things that make your body feeling good too! Work up a sweat, get outside, breathe fresh air, stretch, run, roll in the dirt, I don’t care what it is.. just move yo’ body!! Endorphins are a powerful thing and can keep the good-feels rolling! - If you’re stuck in a rut or routine where you aren’t active and feel like poo.. its time to take action. Get out of your pity party and MOVE! Sometimes the first step is the hardest one.. but its also the most important! 💜 - P.S. In the pic on the left from 2015 I weigh 153 lbs.. on the right I’m sitting at about 163! Don’t let that a number determine your worth! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 #transformationtuesday
