This week we are focusing on the squat. A great compound movement that’s primary focus is in the legs, but also activates muscles throughout the rest of the body. There are multiple variations of the squat and many different tools to use. However, the fundamentals stay the same. Tight core, neutral spine, hips square, chest up. Don’t let the knees track past the toes, keep the weight on your heels, drive your knees out. Depth on the squat will vary from person to person, but the goal is to get your thoughts parallel to the floor. Flexibility, muscle conditioning and biomechanics all play into depth. Wie mijn stukjes weleens leest, weet waarschijnlijk wel dat ik machines en kabels soms verkies boven dumbbells en barbells. Wellicht minder "hardcore" of insta-worthy, maar ik heb liever een betere prikkel voor m'n spieren 😉. • De verticale lijn die zwaartekracht uitoefent, is namelijk niet altijd de meest optimale. Wanneer ik deze oefening zou doen met een dumbbell, is de spanning bovenin de beweging enorm en onderin zo goed als verdwenen. Je kent het wel😎. • Deze zogeheten "lineair aflopende krachtcurve" kunnen we simpelweg afvlakken met een kabel of op een machine die ontworpen is door mensen die er verstand van hebben. Meer continue spanning over de gehele bewegingsuitslag, dus💡. "I enlisted in the Army when I was 19 so I have been active for at least 10+ years but not heavy into fitness like I am now." says Remington Jeffries (@jeffriesremungton), "I was a door gunner crew chief on blackhawk helicopters, one weekend after drill I was picking up some water tanks for my buddy in my truck. Well a guy was playing on his phone ran the red light and hit me head on. I lost vision in my right eye even after 2 surgeries. The Army deemed me unfit for duty because of my injury so I was honorably discharged after almost 8 years in. After my accident for months I was not allowed to do anything not even hold my baby daughter. I decided that I was tired of everyone looking at me like I was broken, I was upset that the army thought I was useless now so I set out to prove to the world that I wasnt. When I was approved by docs to workout my goal was to workout enough to take a army fitness test and get a perfect 300 score before my discharge showed up. I got a 296 on my last fitness test." he adds. "Ever since then I have digging more and more into my fitness lifestyle and using my body as my canvas for my masterpiece. I am designing how I want my body to look and perform. I could not have found this drive to make myself and my life better if I had never gotten into fitness. It feeds my fire and it helps me to destress from the world. I love that with fitness I can see the difference see what my work is doing. I want to become a personal trainer and help show people that anyone can have the body they want, you just gotta put in the right time the right work and the right drive.
